TY. I studied this at university, but didn't really understand any of it This proves to me that youtube teachers are oftentimes much better than real teachers.

In this case, YES, but not all the time. Over generalization from 1 sample is a fallacy in basic logic.

Thank you so much. I am just discovering these things while studying Greek pronunciation and phonology history, for ancient Greek. You make it so amazingly easy and accurate. The best thing is that you keep videos very short, so they are easy to follow along.

Thank you - I am doing the subject psychology of language and I really need to master an understanding of the use of the IPA chart to produce an assignment that is a research proposal on contrast sounds in the PAM model - so thanks for the help your video has provided in enhancing my understanding of the use of this chart.

Manner of articulation by the trainer is absolutely stupendous and trains with passion and patience. The subject on Phonetics is little bit complicated for the non-native speakers like me, as it involves many intricacies that has to be elaborated with adequate illustrations by the the trainer who is a native speaker. Truly, the trainer is doing great justice to the job. The beneficiaries of this session are certainly lucky enough to have such a great teacher, well endowed with professional wisdom. Every single information provided by the teacher is so precious that will go a long way in attaining the linguistic mastery. Let me share that as most of our physiological systems play a key role in deciding the utterances, care has to be taken to keep them in functional state. The class is definitely lively and effective. So nice of you, Sir. Great. (Ravi)

Hi teacher! I loved this lesson. Some IPA symbols are different from those you used and some phonemes are missing (such as 3:) but I appreciated the way you produced the sounds you chose to consider and pronounce. The slight differences existing between sounds are so clear! Please make other videos on this interesting subject. Thanks

This is really interesting, especially when it comes to the middle sounds (banana etc.) Being English and from the Midlands we would use totally different vowel sounds when pronouncing these words. Move further up north in the UK and different again. Go across to Liverpool and more changes. Try Birmingham for some more confusion. Head to Scotland and good luck understanding. No wonder non native speakers have trouble in the UK and prefer to learn English with a North American accent.

Great content again. To your question, for me personally the most difficult sound to make is being able to distinct between confusing pairs like FILL X FEEL , LIVING X LEAVING , FULL X FOOL, PULL x POOL, LID X LEAD and son on.. I find the short vowel sound harder to achieve than the long one. You asked me about the Australian accent in another video comment section, well I'd say the Aussie accent is quite unique and tricky to describe.. Aussies are known for shortening words, not pronouncing R at the end of words. To me they speak quite faster than Americans and Canadians for instance. Besides there is not that much sound variation to it.The accent is pretty homogeneous through out the country. Thanks for the video one more time.

Great! Thanks for the comment! 😃 I'll make a video about confusing pairs soon. Honestly, sometimes I can't understand Australians either. They use a lot of slang in their speech!

Amazing video! I wish I had a time machine and could send it back to my young self when I was first learning English - but I'd have to use a film reel 🤣 Coming from my native Italian, the "over-abundance" of English vowel sounds gave me a serious challenge for many years! I'm thinking about vowel again, as I'm studying Brazilian Portuguese... and wresting with "open e" vs. "closed e", etc
