1st stanza Shakespeare says that Neither the statues made of marble nor the gold plated monument shall live longer than this powerful rhyme and through this powerful rhyme poets beloved remain alive in this world for immemorial time. Stones statue and monument becomes dirty with passsage of sluttish(immoral time) which destroy these beautiful statue and converts them into ruin Stanza 2 Shakespeare says that wars are destructive they are wasteful, they are useless because they overturn all these beautiful statues they destroy them all these wars and fights end the beautiful creation done by the mason but he says on the otherhand even the powerful sword or mars or intense fire of the war cannot destroy , cannot burn this poetry so he says that through this poetry his beloved shall be praised and his praise shall be read by generation to come. Shakespeare wants to refer to power of his poetry Stanza 3 Even after the death of the beloved and even in the face of any disclosed or unknown enemy. The beloved shall pace forth that means the praise of beloved shall remain alive and he shall be praised even in the eyes of posterity that is all the future generations who will read this poem they will praise Shakespeare beloved and he says that this shall be done till the end of the world. Stanza 4 Till the day of judgement when Jesus christ with himself decide the deeds are good or bad till that day the beloved shall be praised through this poetry and everyone who reads that poetry will remember the poet beloved and praise his good deed

Ma'am, what is the difference between simile n metaphor??
@englishacademy15 жыл бұрын
Simile is a direct comparison using 'like' or 'as'. Metaphor is an indirect comparison, only a particular quality of two things is compared

Little bit confused with epithet, allusion and imagery
@englishacademy16 жыл бұрын
Yes they are confusing as they are new to you. 'Epithet' is an adjective used to denote the quality of something. 'Allusion' is the reference to a known Historical person or place. 'Imagery' is giving a vivid description to create a scene in the reader's mind. I hope this solves the confusion.
