IMHO I’m not bothering with scenery enhancements any more. I had developed an enormous custom scenery folder in XP11 and if I were to consider and calculate the time I spent on all of it I’m sure I’d be blown away with the amount of time spent. I’m pretty pleased with the stock XP12 airports and their global airports will always be improved over time without me doing it. Laminar have said they will be working hard on their sceneries after xp12 goes official so I’m not going the waste my time when they would be doing it anyway.

IT BLEW MY MIND! I'm Hungarian, a small, maybe not too significant country (sry for saying), so I was sure, that the open-street-map data would be poor. And darn! EVERYTHING is in place! Same thing! All the houses! Malls! Supermarkets! Gas stations! Even the brand of the gas stations are correct many times! Churches! Every single tree in place!... Okay, that's an exaggeration, :D but the tree lines are like in MSFS! And because I use LV17-18 ortho, my scenes, I claim, look better than MSFS ground textures. (Cost: -10 fps for me.) NOW, I REALLY don't know if I ever run MSFS again. :) But X-Plane! EVERY DAY, no doubt! :))) THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO AGAIN, I'M EXTREMELY GRATEFUL TO YOU! :)

Great free alternative. Nice to see the mods emerging for XP12. I like Orbx TrueEarth which looks utterly stunning in XP12, even though it is not yet optimised for, or takes advantage of the new features in XP12, but that is coming. Payware, of course, but so worth it.

I have 4 TB Orthos for Europe, US and Africa. Europe: ZL 16-18 (18 for airports where I go very often) US: ZL 12 (looks ok at FL 350), ZL 16 for some regions Africa: ZL 12 (looks ok at FL 350), ZL 16 for some regions X-Europe is really good I prefer XP with Orthos to MSFS because the flight physics are so much better and BSS soundsets for Toliss/FF are the best soundsets ever.

The sim heaven packages in xp 11 have some subtle pbr that really makes a difference, especially at golden hour. I’m downloading x-world America now so I’ll report later but when I carried my xp11 version into xp12 I also noticed some nice pbr at certain light situations

I've just posted a video using X-Plane 11 Orbx in X-Plane 12 from London City. The wet airport looks amazing as does the very overcast clouds. It flies much smoother and seems faster for the same speeds. I used the X-Plane 12 X-Europe too

Great video, thank you so much! Very useful! I go home and download X-Europe immediately. I haven't heard about this add-on until now. And I think MSFS looks very cartoonish, not X-Plane. :D Basically. But got your point. :)

I have been working on scenery for USA state of Oklahoma and xplane trees are completely wrong, but I did find a tree placement layer for sale and it looks like correct placement. Looks much better than msfs and probably no reason why msfs trees should be absolutely everywhere.

Meestal vlieg ik in XP11 met IFR in de Zibo 738, naar alle tevredenheid. En gebruik ik MSFS2020 voor VFR met de Cessna 152, 172 of soms de Twin Otter. Groetjes van een ex-KLM Aeroclubman.

Many thanks for this very interesting video. I'm still on XP11 for now, and have been using X-Europe for a long time, and completetly agree with your comments. That said, I also have tons of orthos, and agree that the combination is excellent in terms of visuals. I will surely move to XP12 when it's at a more advanced stage, but the question regarding the orthos that I'm not quite clear on is whether we will be able to use our previous orthos or if we'll need to rebuild all orthos for optimal XP12 compatibility, do you have some insight into this? Thanks for all your excellent work.

With ortho and xeurope installed, the plausible world would be quite perfect if only it was possible to set the roof- and facade-colour.... And even more so if You could set the type of house, in this instance, at terraced one, and height if multi-storey house, and numbers of doors and windows in blocks.... It may sound like a lot, but it COULD be done quite easily, and very quickly, everybody would be sitting fixing their area, and things that are not edited, can be interpolated....

So I can still fly with Xplane without internet, and with MFSM I can no longer fly if the internet is too slow or fails? Can i install xplane 12 twice on the same computer? Once under Windows and once under Linux?

Is OrbX available for XP12? In the old simming days I remember always having OrbX installed (but I don´t know if it was for prepar3D, FSX or X-Plane) and for example the UK-scenery looked absolute beautyful! Almost like FS2020. That´s why I think OrbX would be the best scenery to go for X-Plane. :)

I wonder why you choose EHAM; there is an extreme frameloss in the environment due to elevation.

The manual says something about not having to copy over ortho overlays for Europe tiles, do i need it for the rest of the world? how does it work
