[As a black engene] - I didnt hear him say it. He stopped at "ni-" then right after jungwon started singing "personally" which is in the same line heesung was singing. so the "ni" and jungwon's "per' from personally might be mistaken as the n word. but if you listen closely the n word was not said. I absolutely hate when people jump to conclusions and spread hate. The company should put out a statement addressing the situation and take legal actions if anymore of this unnecessary hate happens.

Yall omg i wanna clarify something here about this matter, at 10:56 when he was singing the part skrt skrt my ni- man DID NOT SAY THE N WORD, you can clearly hear that his voice was lowered after saying "my ni" and thats when jungwon sang with high pitch. No matter how many times you hear it you can clearly say he didn't say it. Im really sure about this guys belive me, and even "IF" you think its real that he said, did he say it as a insult to the black people? From my point of view, I want to clarify that I do not defend them for the fact of loving them and forgiving them anything just for being them. I personally have seen the video several times, both in normal speed and in slow motion, and I've analyzed it, and I really don't think Heeseung said the n-word, here my justifications;; - I'm sure Heeseung is mature enough to know the meaning of the word, I at my 14 know what it means. - If he had said that, Jake would have reacted different, and especially if he had said that the editors would probably have cut that recording. You can believe whatever you want, defend them or not, but for me it's all a false rumor.

Heeseung didn’t say the n word because we can hear at 10:53 that jungwon is also singing "love galore” not "neul saraghae” but he sings “ personally I’m surprised you called me after “ and if you slowed it down you will clearly hear it. At first I was also thought that he was saying the n word but after I realised that he stopped at ni- and then it’s jungwon singing “personally-“. And just in case, I’am black.

I listened to this over and over bc I heard this happened. I don't hear him say it. I asked a couple of my black friends and they said they don't hear anything like that either after they listened quite a few times. It's terrible that their reputation was put through this and people were demanding an apology from BeLift and Heeseung when there's nothing to apologize for 😢 it's the toxic and mean fans that are being horrible to others that should be the one apologizing. This wasn't BeLift or Enhypen's mistake. Fan or fans made a mistake because they didn't hear the correct audio and jumped to conclusions. Also there's 2 voices singing. Jake tells Heeseung to come over and he does (he's not singing then) when he does the other singing voice is going.

Hee has been studying English. When he covered Savage Love on tiktok, he censored the "F" word. He know the lyrics, he would've censored the "N" word too. Also, Jake was there. If Hee really said it, he would've reacted or something. But yes, I agree that Belift should release a statement to clarify this issue for every one's peace of mind.

as a fluent english speaker, i'm quite sure that two members speaking made it overlap to sound like the word. heesung also has jake beside him, (for those who don't know jakE is fluent in english) if heesung actually said it jake would've reacted differently. ok imma now say on what I feel and think about this whole situation regarding from this vid, but first off, one thing I wasn't happy about was how some people in this fandom were so quick to degrade the issue and instead of listening, they took it as a chance to bash out and be racist towards black engenes. Like what is wrong with ya'll? Where did you leave your human decency and common sense at? ok so tbh with ya'll, I really don't think that heeseung is saying the n-word. I feel that ever since this started to buzz, many things started to happen all at once and was taken out of proportion, which got us to here. I responded to a comment underneath this vid and explained the part where some were speculating jungwon was singing a korean song was where it overlapped with heeseung's voice. Actually, jungwon was singing the same song as heeseung but it was a different verse. If you listen closely what he sang was "personally I'm surprise you call me after the..." and then it faintly cuts off. When jungwon sang "(per)sonally" it overlapped with heeseung's voice in between which made it sound as if he said the word (from what I'm seeing, it seems like ya'll misinterpreted the *per from personally to -ger). At first it was kind of hard to distinguish them since both of their voices were on top of each others, but if you give a few listens, you can hear heeseung taking a pause and then continues on singing/humming the song. At some point, I truly hope belift will make a statement on this and also giving heeseung the opportunity to explain himself. (and to clear things up, yes I'm a black engene)

I don't think Hee said that, the staff is not stupid, if she had said that they wouldn't have put that shot on. If you put it in slow speed you will be able to hear well what he says

i fully support the black engenes and what their pov is on this whole situation, but in my opinion i don’t see heeseungs mouth moving especially towards the end of the audio when he is slightly shown in the camera with jake in the frame. the timing just doesn’t match. although many are making claims that that is what a member said, it’s not right for us (non black engene) to put input in saying that they can’t feel certain emotions on the matter. any slur is not okay. but we should definitely not send any threats (especially harmful ones) or try and “cancel” any of them with the cancel culture that has been so relevant these days. we can keep asking belift for a statement for confirmation but we shouldn’t assume or jump to certain conclusions just because we think we heard something. i believe that the members of enhypen are amazing people and really doubt that any of them would’ve said an offensive slur. and i get it, “how would you know, you don’t know them” well i am judging them on their personality and character so far.

What I hear: Heeseung singing skrrt skrrt then he stops singing and you hear someone’s voice in the background. Then Heeseung- just before he gets interviewed by Jake is just humming and then gets interrupted. The voice that is heard is clearly in the background and could not by any chance be either Heeseung or Jake. I’d say it’s simply an overlap but this depends on what you hear yourself.

I do hope that BeLift does make a statement about this, because whether or not Heeseung had said the n-word or if it was someone else, BeLift needs to clarify what actually happened. For me, I don’t really hear it but I am also not going to doubt those who did. If anything, I’m just mad that the people who were editing this video didn’t caught what was being said in the background. Like, yes, if Heeseung had actually said it then he should apologize and all of Enhypen should learn from not saying that regardless of whether they were just singing what was on the lyrics of the song. But I can’t believe that the editors of this video didn’t catch that word, and I don’t know, edit it out? Even if it was the actual Korean term and it was Jungwon who was singing that alongside the overlapping, the staff should’ve known what reaction the public would have if they heard that world and target this young group! Someone should’ve stopped Heeseung from singing that song if it was him doing so, tell them to do a re-take, or again, edited that part out and teach the boys what they should or shouldn’t be saying. Gosh, I would really hate for something like this to be the downfall of their growing careers because it doesn’t seem to be intended badly (after all, Heeseung singing that song from SZA, it could be assumed that he liked the song or even her as an artist), so it could genuinely be an honest mistake on his part. It's obviously a serious matter when a slur is used, and the situation needs to be clarified. However when I play the four second clip on the slowest speed, I can hear someone singing skrrt skrrt on my ni- the person stopped themselves, then there's a microscopic stop, before someone else starts singing, my ears are very sensitive to sound and I do have pretty good hearing, however the reason I think some people hear the slur and other don't hear it, is because our brains are constantly looking for words we know and understand. So when we hear something that sounds alike to something we know, we our brains can fill in sounds. Almost like how our brains cancel out the nose from our sight, or like how we can see faces on non living things. Because the brain constantly looks and listens for familiar objects and sounds. I remember when I first started getting into K-pop I heard Good Boy, and at one point where they say something that is romanised to nikka, I heard the slur, and was wery confused. This is not to say that it wasn't said, we don't have 100% proof, and therefore should not jump to conclusions. So instead of jumping to a conclusion, ask for clarification and education.
