This song offers an interesting contrast of languages - the sacred language of the church, Latin, and the sensual French. This song is not only about de Sade, but about love and sex, the soul and the flesh. It offers a view into the period of time De Sade lived in, when sexuality was considered an affront to God, since the Church believed it denied the soul.
De Sade took that stance to the extreme, denying anything higher than sexual pleasure as false. So basically this song contrasts the strict, spiritual world of the Church and the debauched, amoral world of de Sade.

Mom played this over and over when I was 9 years old. It was the most beautiful sound I’d ever heard and I would ask her to play it again every time we were on the road. She passed away last year while I was living in Thailand and when I came back to pack her things and have her car detailed, this randomly came on through her CD player while I was in reminiscence of her. She was such a beautiful woman. Rest In Peace momma. Will see you again one day...

Well I'm not that "old" (I'm going to be 25 this year) but I've always known this song because of my parents. They used to blast this along with many other '80s songs on the car's radio and I'm really thankful to them for that. I know a lot of good '80s songs because of them :)

We grew up very poor but honest and when this song came out we we're suddenly rich cos our entire family dreamt of a place somewhere quiet,peaceful and convenient for us. We imagined us feeding animals,roll down grassy little hills and swim in clear mountain pools while shouting our names and laughing when it echoes. Me lembro é do programa Goiânia Nigth Shopping, apresentado na tv Goiânia Band na Cidade de Goiânia-GO, era programa de propagandas de lojas, mas nos intervalos passava stripper das boates aqui de Goiânia, e aí sempre tocava essa música e as cavalas elas tirando a roupa, era fantástico!!! época de 2003 a 2006, foi assim que conheci essa música. o programa passas depôs da meia noite. Agora nem faria mais sentido programa assim, porque as mulheres já andam pelas na rua mesmo kkk.

I was 45 when this fist came out. Loved it from the first time I heard it. The Gregorian Chant has always been very mystical and haunting. The sound of them singing in church echoing everywhere is totally captivating to me. Maybe it's my Italian, Catholic background, I don't know. Bringing it into a new Era at the time was quite daring. It still works today. I'll be 78 in April and I still love to hear this. 🙏💙

I dedicate this song to all the people in the USA. When I was a child, me and my parents emigrated to this country. We walked and rode buses from El Salvador to this country, after crossing the border, we hopped a taxi and the cab driver was playing this song and it stuck to my head all this years. Long story short, I am now a Doctor with two offices doing very well, we also travel the country offering medical help to people that dont have the means to pay for care. So thank you America for taking us and make a better life for my family. God Bless America!

Two years ago, my girl took me to Santa Monica and we stayed at a hotel by the pier. We checked in and she played this song as soon as she closed the door. It was the first time we made love and it was magical. We didn't leave that place for a week and we listened to this band the whole time. I discovered this EPIC masterpiece back in the 90's from one of my older brother. Just now and out of nowhere, this haunting tune emerged out of the depth of my mind and I had to search for it again. No other tune has such a profound effect on me. Enigma for life ❤

The first time I heard this song was in 1992 when I was 16 years old. I was at a stereo shop with some friends and the owner put this on in one of the cars he was doing an install on. The bass was incredible. It shook the walls and windows. To his day when I hear any enigma song I’m taken back to that time and many others in my life.

i too have similar hi-fidelity nostalgia related to this song,there was a person in my locality who used a pro level sub in his skoda octavia,where the entire bootspace was used as enclosure,and he always passed by playing enigma sadeness,second encounter was when in a showroom,the sales person played this song on onkyo tower speakers in one corner of showroom and i and my friend were immediately drawn in direction of the sound,but as there was no internet on our phones back then we didn't know the name of this song,finally i came to know of this song when a person played it on his system and i asked him the song name.

Same for me. I love the music but it does bring up memories. I remember living briefly in Seattle in the late summer, autumn, winter, spring, early summer of 1994-95. I used to play the cassette a lot in my car during autumn and this was among my favorite tracks.
