I know it's a year later but minor nerd moment here. The Shakespeare quotes are from various of his plays so yes are authentic. Also 'broken meats' was actually referring to table scraps specifically in Shakespeare's time, leftovers from feasts would go to the poor and beggars outside. So they got meat that had been already served -- the huge joint of meat was no longer in a big hunk, so it was broken Apologies if someone has already mentioned this to you.

The hand boiler works because there is a near perfect vacuum in the glass so it drastically reduces the boiling point of a liquid

As kids we used to make these pocket-slingshots out of a piece of tube and a finger from a kitchen rubber glove, you could shoot peas with them pretty good.

For the hand boilers the air pressure inside is likely very low and so the boiling point of the liquid is reduced significantly as a result. This phenomenon can also be observed by putting a liquid such as water into a vacuum chamber, where it will boil at room temperature.
