Going from cb’s who couldn’t tackle, to cb’s WHO TACKLE is a mass improvement

I think Rakestraw ends up being a strong safety along side of Kerby. Branch can basically play the “star” nickel that can cover slot/TE/blitz, with Arnold, Davis, Robertson. The great thing is that Branch, Arnold and Rakestraw are all extremely versatile and all three are great tacklers and share the same instinctual point of attack traits. Building a unit, a defense, a team…they all require cohesion and chemistry, and the fact that Holmes has built this team as a TEAM-not just talent on paper-is a huge reason for this success. I still think trading up for a project in the 4th, then trading up again for Vaki (who is likely a better RB than a safety in the NFL imo) was not a good use of future capital but I’m very pleased with the first two selections as well as getting Wingo from LSU late (a team captain who played through injuries this year but when healthy can be a destructive interior pass rusher like McNeill has been).

Golly... This Detroit defense is loaded. Missing a star edge rush opposite of hutch, but I think so long as reader and mcneill collapse the pocket, them and hutch eat

How is the 1st play a highlight??? He one arms and drops what looked to be a fairly easy INT if he uses both hands. Based off how high he jumped, it seems like he could have used two hands. Idk, I guess I'm the only person in the universe who hated this pick because everyone else seems to love it. But I just don't get taking an injury prone CB when you already got Arnold and when Corley, Trice, Elliss & Burton are still on the board. Or move down, add draft capital, and take Jalen Mcmillian, Troy Franklin or Adisa Isaac. Or move up and get Kneeland, if he's your guy. Idk, I hate the pick. They should have gotten a WR or an edge player. I mean, I can forgive the others, but not taking Corley when he was still available at that point is completely incomprehensible to me; he's got serious Deebo vibes. And I think the loss of Reynolds is going to be more serious than people realize. I hope I'm wrong about Rakestraw & Reynolds, but I don't think I am. That being said, the Arnold pick was a home run.
