Sehr, sehr schoen! Im Februar 2012 haben wir diese Strecke mit dem Zug gefahren bis Schladming. Mit der Alpenexpress kamen wir von Holland nach Bischofshofen und dann weiter mit diesem Zug. Die Enkelkinder haben auch sehr genossen. Danke fuer diesen Video. Wir moechten einigen Szenen haben fuer unsere eigene Reisevideo. Mit besten Gruessen aus NL-Groningen, Familie Freij.

August 1967 auf dem Weg in den Urlaub nach Gröbming. Über Bischofshofen. Es war sommerlich heiss...Klimaanlage? Gab´s gar nicht. Der Stehplatz am letzten "Balkon" der Donnerbüchsen genannten Personenzugwagen war einfach nur genial. So etwas vergisst man nicht... Auch den Urlaub nicht - ganz positiv!

Most switches are heated, so they're free of snow. Well, at normal level crossings these flangeways are pretty wide, so there is enough room for ice and wheel. A problem would be if there was gravel inbetween, this has caused some derailments of trams in the cities, because they are much lighter than a locomotive. It's full of snow so you can't see it, the track is visible at the cossing just before the switch. The "X" and "-" signals mean "begin snow clearing" and "stop snow clearing"

schade das es nicht mehr gibt. keine ansagen durch welches dorf der zug gerade fährt. warum sind alle weichen schneefrei? wird da extra gescahufelt? oder abgetaut? womit,strom oder gas? ( ich komme aus Russland und bei uns gibt es gasleitungen und so werden die weichen frei gehalten). aber schöne landschaft. 1951 wurde ich in seltzthal geboren...

Danke! Ich war nur Passagier, aber es gab eine Störung und der Hauptschalter ist mehrmals gefallen. Im zweiten Teil mussten wir dadurch auch einmal auf freier Strecke anhalten. Die genaue Ursache kann ich dir leider nicht sagen.

Danke, fueherestand. How are the switches heated? By electricity? I have seen our switches heated by flames. At a rural level crossing we had a heavy Diesel freight locomotive derail from ice. I blame the crew for being too lazy to get out and clear the flangeways. Or maybe they should have crossed more slowly. (They probably crossed at just 10 miles per hour.) Zoran fails to realize that the USA is big with lower population density. Unless in big cities, Americans prefer to drive their cars.

Beautiful scenery and great video, but it's almost eerily quiet in the cab. No radio chatter, no horns at the crossings, no bells at the stations. How do they talk to the dispatchers, or do they just go by signal indication?
