I loved this movie so much bECAUSE of this dynamic. If it was just Enola, one would think is just another movie that praises women who are not traditionally feminine, and that praises typically masculine stuff (as in, Enola she knows how to fight, she's smart and assertive, she's witty and independent, she's brave and strong, and knows how to look after herself... doesn't want marriage or kids like most women did...). Then, they present Tewsbury with a lacking of most of the above characteristics, plus he loves flowers and is kinda delicate (traditionally feminine traits), and at first they put him off as an "idiot", "useless", but he proves time and time again that he is not, that he actually is very smart, and the fact that he likes flowers and doesn't know how to fight or properly defend himself, etc, doesn't make him stupid or weak. He's strong in his own way. It's kind f genius, actually. I loved that. It wasn't just about _"I'm strong and smart and not like the other girls, therefore I'm a cool character"_ . They cancel that when they presented a male character with feminine traits that was just as cool, and not at all useless, since it was his vote the one which made the difference at the end. The movie was about the look for one self, and your own purpose in life, and how you don't need to be lonely to do that. Surprisingly so good. I expected something else 😂 *and sorry for the long ass comment, I got carried away*

This was actually a very nice and refreshing movie. I started realizing sooner that her mother left so that she could carve her own path.

Absolutely loved them together! So glad that their chemistry was focused on their how they looked at eachother, body language and how they spoke with one another and not on physical intimacy. This is young love and I am glad they weren’t exploited. Such beauty in their innocence. Great job to the director, actors and writers!
