When you get to Enoshima Island, you are presented with two options. You can choose to pay to take escalators up the mountainous island to access the shoreline on the far side; or you can walk through the many shrines, lookouts, greenery, and many, many stairs. I choose to walk and I do not regret it despite how tired I ended up after this day. Hopefully this video helps you make your decision too, even though it doesn't show all the spiders...
