I went to Japan for the first time in 2019 and it CHANGED MY LIFE!!!! The most amazing place I have ever been to on the planet. The people, the spirituality, the culture, the food, the art, and on and on, and on!! Hope your visit is as enlightening as mine was. I cannot wait to go back....which will hopefully be this fall. I need to see a lot more of the country. In the meantime, I am addicted to a show on TV called "Journeys in Japan". It is helping me map out my next trip there. You MUST do a Japanese onsen (bath). Preferably one with an outdoor space. Nothing like it. My one reluctance...the earthquakes. They totally freak me out. I have been through two in my life in CA. I hope to never go through another.

This has given me the best flashbacks to my own trip to Japan, landing at the airport with my sisters and being absolutely lost and bewildered. Thankfully, every single person we met was the kindest and most helpful, and they helped to get us on our way.

Japan was also my first international trip outside of North America. I was there with my husband and our friends for 3.5 weeks and after the initial few days, it was actually pretty easy to navigate. Google translate was my best friend lol. I was able to communicate with the locals a lot and I was able to use the camera on the app to translate the Japanese characters to English anytime I was trying to read street signs or a menu. We were on the bullet train going from Tokyo to Hakone and were too busy chatting that we accidentally missed our stop by about 250 miles haha. We just got off the next stop and hopped on another train to go back and made it back 250 miles in about 20 minutes. I wish we had the bullet train in the US. I'm so happy you were able to go. Japan is one of my favorite places to visit hands down. Cleanest country in the world. 😁

Hello! I have just discovered your channel through this video. You and your friend seem like very kind people. I hope you enjoyed your trip in Japan, as I enjoyed mine very much when I first visited Tokyo in 2018. It is overwhelming at first with the culture shock, but with more time spent, you start to blend in and get used to everything there. So much so that Tokyo began to feel like a second home for me. I’m from the US and I am subscribed to your channel now. Excited to see the rest of your trip!

The fact Jete said he wants to get a tattoo there just shows how little research you both did into the Japanese culture before getting there! 🤣 Fair play for at least trying to learn along the way, but with countries with such different values, it's always best to have at least SOME level of understanding before getting there. Loving the vlogs so far! 🙂

The ignorance is obvious with that comment, the only places that prohibit tattoos are public bathrooms and some restaurants besides this, getting a tattoo in Japan is not illegal and it is not difficult to do. There are thousands of tattoo shops all over Japan that appear on maps, also pages even there are KZfaq videos of people going to a legal tattoo shop xD

You trip seems nice. As a retired Fliight Attendant I had the opportunity to travel to five continents and many countries. Knowing basic customs, foldways and mores is very important. As a "guest" in another country knowing just a small amount shows native citizens you have made and effort. Although you might not get a simple courtesy correct they can tell and appreciate your attempt. So for future travel you can purchase a book containing the basics for many countries all in one place. I am glad you had a nice time, and did learn a few things. Be well and safe travels.

Bro is capping so hard! I was literally just in that airport… at 3:26 you say you don’t understand what this pink paper says but dude we both know if you flip that paper over it’s in English. Then at 6:58 you’re like “I brought 40 dollars over from the states hopefully I can change it” while your boy was taking money out of the atm. All you had to do was take two steps to the right and there’s a place you can exchange US currency…

Rent a Wi-Fi in Japan, so much easier. Literally for the same price. Pupuru is one of the brands to choose from. Taxis in Japan from the airport are expensive. Luckily Haneda is closer to town. Can always ask the Information Desk for help.

So much bad advice in this video. $10/day for cellphone service is crazy, when you can get a Tourist SIM for a fraction of that. You can get that delivered, picked up or even an instant e-SIM. Don't take UBERs in Japan. Public transportation is cheap and easy. You can create an IC travelcard on Apple Wallet for free and top up directly with your credit card. You don't need to exchange cash back home. Using at ATM once you land is cheaper, especially if you have a debit card without foreign transaction fees. You just need to do the slightest bit of research before you leave.

It’ll be interesting to see what you think of DLP when you eventually get there. I’ve been twice and found people very disrespectful. Smoking when there’s ciear signs saying smoking not permitted. And both times I’ve nearly been knocked off my spot at the fireworks. Just pushed out the way after waiting for ages at a decent spot. Kids flip on shoulders and you’re just pushed and squeezed, and phones go up with the lights still blazing. It’s put me off going ever again. However. The French know how to do catchy music for the parade. And the drones for 30th were sooo good. Shame about the ignorant culture. Makes me want to go to Japan
