Well, they dont chase after medals, the SEALs know what they did and what they did it for. And, its known that the Bronze star is not what it once was, more of a participation combat medal, easy to write up/get written up for it. It's not because of the officers status or enlisted drivers following them in combat and not being as courageous. SEALs have a far better relationship with their officers than say, Army, they let enlisted do their own thing and in the book, the newguy LTs let their chief lead who was on his 3rd deployment, and all talked to each other as guys nearly the same way except for orders and duties they need to give and be responsible for. They all go through BUD/s and SQT after all.

Not the case for Task Unit Bruiser(Task Unit = 32 people, two 16 man platoons - 13 enlisted SEALs, including a Chief who runs the platoon, 3 platoon officers including the OIC/Platoon Commander). Nearly all of them are highly decorated. All the enlisted guys including Chris Kyle have praised the officers. And the dynamic of the SEAL Teams are different than conventional units. Officers and enlisted have equal roles of shooters and operators, however enlisted guys are the backbone and officers have more administrative responsibility. Look at the actions the officers were decorated for. But of course you will keep on saying that they got it just for being in theater. Thats what you came here for. And who gives a shit anyway? They don't fight for medals. That is superficial. Their motivations are deeper. On that deployment, one platoon commander(O3) earned 2 Silver Stars, the other platoon commander earned a Silver Star, the task unit commander(O4), an enlisted man for 8 years, earned a silver and bronze star on previous deployments, and a quarter of the task unit earned a silver star(Chris Kyle, Jonny Kim, Michael Monsoor(Also MOH), JP Dinnell, Marc Lee), most of the task unit earning Bronze Stars and Navy and Marine Commendation Medals with Combat "V" as well.

Ventura was sided against by Chris and the news sided with Chris over it but really it was all a lie and he was sued for defamation for putting the lies in his book..
