I watched Aretha’s home going celebration from beginning to end. I laughed, cried, sang , attended church and got educated on the many wonderful things THE Queen of Soul has done in this life. I had an amazing once in a lifetime experience in a mere 7 hours that I will forever cherish!

Spot on Wanda. My exact experience - along way away, in Australia. I loved her from the very first time l heard her on the radio, at 14/15 yrs of age, but had no idea of half she had achieved in her life time. A beautiful, courageous Christian lady.

This woman represents what we used to stand for. You pay your dues and you actually have talent to become a star. Once you have been blessed with wealth, you reach out to others; never forgetting where you come from. And foremost, never forgetting that God was the one that made it possible. As the hymn goes, "May the worked I've done speak for me". It should make all of us think about what our lives are saying about us. May God keep this family together.

I can't imagine a world without Aretha, or without her blessing a grand event or a celebrated honoree without her appearing, dressed to the nine's, to gift attendees with her God-given talent. We lost the joy that she gave us. She belongs to the ages now.

The family was nice enough to let us watch their very precious moment and all people are doing is being negative about everything... but the right thing... reflecting on our dearly departed... And get inspired in some way... I see why the celebrities don't want to share with the public all the time... none of us is perfect... Stevie said it best...we need more love...why can't we just be grateful for the memories??

thank you, that's exactly how I feel. I believe some didn't understand it was a home going, not a concert. If they sung off key, screaming, or singing with perfect pitch I believe Aretha loved, and appreciated it, and I believe GOD was pleased that we honored the creation HE shared with us. That is what matters, the rest is just noise.

This could be why some ppl sounded shaky, having an interview about Aretha right before having to sing. I can say this was such a beautiful home going ceremony for such a classy, sophisticated, inspirational, woman. I watched the entire 9-10hour ceremony until it went off. All that she’s given to us over so so many years of her life... The least I could do was give her hours of my time as she lays to rest.. 🕊🕊🕊✨🌺✨👠👠💖✨🙏🏽✨

It was sad due to the fact that we lost one of the greatest voices in music history of our time. As long as the service was, it kept me glued to my television with the exception of breaking away from it only when I had it. It was indeed a service befitting a queen. Thanks to the family for sharing this with us as well.

What a GRAND HOMECOMING Aretha was given. The singers some sent chills thru me, the many wonderful speakers, the outfit and heels she had on was so touchingly beautiful withlove, and when I saw the 27pink cadillacs I cried. That was such love given to such a deserving woman. I've always thought of Aretha as something like a big sister to me. So my last words to her was ,"Well Aretha, you tried to show young teen girls like I was in the 60s about boys, and love, through your songs, and I listened to every word. Words that probably kept me out of some tight spots. Words to me came from a big sister" I could go on and on, but it all boils down to, we the people, in unison, gave Aretha the title originally as The Godmama of Soul, and James Brown The Godfather of Soul, because these were the 2 that had the soul we related to, and brought out the best in us. We were all blessed to have known her. RIP ARETHA❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

They sounded like they were screaming instead of singing. Aretha would have put those ladies on pitch key if she could have. I know their hearts were in the right place but it was not the tine or place to try and hit notes by screaming them! Nobody could even come close to singing like The Queen, so why try? Lordy ladies!

Miss Daisy gospel requires that at some point the church calls it testifying and anointing lol black churches do this often. Fantasias performance made me cry tbh i felt that in my soul. And Fantasia did a tribute while she was alive and Aretha loved it.

This style of singing is rooted in the Black Church so if you were not raised in a black church you wouldn't get it! This is not hollering but the true "Soul" singing!

Miss Daisy, i thought the same thing, why are these ladies screaming the song than just singing it, it was necessary to scream all over the song or who could hold a note the longest, just sing it, it just annoyed me a bit but i still enjoyed watching the service.
