Stories like that first one really get me scratching my head. I mean how does someone old enough to be the parent of children feel so entitled to a thing that belongs to a complete stranger that she would not only encourage her kid to steal that thing but then call the police on the rightful owner of the thing when they take it back?

@@madmanmancuso4827 Technically, getting slapped is battery. Assault is a verbal crime. She had already assaulted the OP. But, with the political climate we live in, you can bet someone defending himself or herself from a Karen would be the one to go to jail. The best option is to file assault and battery charges against Karen and let the police escort her to a padded cell.

I had a Karen experience, my daughter had got a Duffy backpack at Tokyo Disney sea. (You can only get them there, which is in Japan) we are now in Canada. This Karen threw a fit that my daughter wouldn’t give it to her while we are in the grocery store, then she tried to take it from my 4 year old daughter. That was a big mistake, Karen found out what an uppercut feels like, she got the left and the right. She was out like a light into the pickle rack. I wish more people did this, because you would see a lot less Karen’s. Yes the police came, she was arrested for assaulting a child. She went to jail and her charges against me we thrown out.

Coralline was one of my favorite movies growing up. But the way people react to certain things like that is because of what they were exposed to when being young. I grew up watching my dad play a bunch of resident evil and the last of us so I don’t get spooked by that stuff.

Pro (or rather basic) tip : Never put anything valuable in you back pocket in public, way to easy of a target for an opportunistic thief (like the kid) and anyone who know what they are doing can pick it with the target not feeling a thing. Do this in any touristy place in Europe and you will 100% get you stuff stolen! Hopefully the OP has learned his lesson.

First story, if that Karen legit kept pestering OP for *days* after the whole debacle ended, then that's textbook stalking & harassment. Call the police and have her arrested. Nip that problem in the bud right away, before the Karen potentially gets it into her head to do something really stupid and/or crazy (likely both).

Story #3... I dated an insecure girl while in high school. Wow, it was exhausting! The constant reassurance. I thought things were going well, but after a few months, she broke up with me. I found out later that she broke up with me, because she thought I was going to break up with her, and she wanted to "beat me to the punch". From then on, I tried to avoid dating insecure women. If someone is broken, you can't fix them. They need to seek help from a professional.

So yeah on story 5, Coraline is definitely something I would classify as "kiddie horror." Getting kids into those kinds of movies involves baby steps. Nightmare Before Christmas was definitely a good first step, but OP really needed to show her kiddo Courage the Cowardly Dog or Invader Zim in between. Stuff that has a few light moments in between as opposed to something that's straight horror from start to finish.

Story #1: If this is a minor, I'm surprised they answered the door. Furthermore, the police were totally abusing their power by demanding a receipt from five years earlier. Story #2: I almost never loan anything to anyone, and if I make some rare exception for whatever reason, I make sure that I have a promissory note or some other type of proof. You'd be amazed by how many people don't want to "borrow" money when you ask them to sign something. Story #3: You should never be more loyal to someone than they are to you -- that's inviting 4bu53. My best friend of several years told me something once that has always stuck with me: dishonest people don't deserve your honesty; disrespectful people don't deserve your respect. This person clearly does not respect or appreciate you and even pretty much admitted that she's waiting for greener pastures at which point she'll throw you away like yesterday's garbage. Above that, she's childish and entitled. Escape the drama now. Story #4: There are basically a few options here and none of them are good. Either it's a prank, she's not into you but wanting to keep you in orbit in case she needs something before what she sees as a better opportunity comes along, or she has other(s) but sets up something with you as a "just in case" and cancels with you when they follow through. The fact that you initiate all of the conversations is telling. It requires little effort on her part; she just has to respond when you make an effort. Eventually, she'll just stop responding. The next time she cancels on you, text her this: "I don't think this is going to work out. I don't appreciate you flaking on me. Good luck in your search." Then leave it alone unless or until she begins to treat you differently. Also, begin seeking out other options of your own in the meantime. Story #6: Concern is warranted because like attracts like, birds of a feather, etc. Story #7: If you're feeling helpful or giving, have parameters that are unmovable. If people can't respect said parameters, they immediately and permanently lose interacting with you in the future.

I can relate with Story 2. There was a guy in my high school that suddenly tried being buddies in my friends group and we all were excited to go to our senior day before finishing high school. It cost about 30 dollars (which was perfect at the time as gas money to fill up my truck) per student and my entire group all paid for the senior day except for that guy. And he begged for everyone to help him pitch in because he didn't want to feel leftout, promised he pay back after it was all over. of course give him a reason to be outside of school. I thought it over and because I'd believe in making the last year memorable and seemed like a man of his word. At the time, I was the only person in the group that had a part time job. So i was able to give him 30 dollars before the deadline and he was so thankful about it, and gave me his word he'd pay me back. Senior day happens, had a great time with my circle of friends and that was that. I had approached him several times afterwards about his promise to pay me back but always had a lame excuse or pretended it was out of good will. Eventually my friends took my side when they found out about he hadn't paid me back, and have seen him post on social media about him buying a new Playstation and controllers . Which made him become the outcast of the group, and didn't want anything to deal with us. I did feel used about it and eventually I got the money back but it was from my group of friends. They assured me I had very good intentions had believed he would be a man of his word.

The second story: My mom's mother told me to never part with more than I can afford not to get back. Tragically, this is a total narcissistic move. They rewrite history once they get what they want and ghost the person, avoiding any responsibility of honoring their end of the deal. In true narcissistic fashion, they usually have a long list of people that they are not on good terms with anymore and they always tell the story where they are the victim and everyone else is the bad guy. Projection. How do I know? I've been there. I had a friend who used every card she could to get what she wanted including perpetuating the myth that she was a single mom. She wasn't. She had a husband who worked on the road and was gone for months on end so this scam of hers often worked in finding new victims to shake down for money she had no intention of ever repaying. I could go on but this would turn into a novel. Unfortunately, OP learned a very expensive lesson. His now former friend did it to him and he'll do it to other people. The truth eventually comes out and the former friend will be seen for the grifter that he is. Let karma sort it out.

Story 5: Always screen movies before showing them to your children. Don't just watch them and then show them if you liked them, but screen them (watch with the knowledge of kids sitting in the room). As I listened to the 3rd story, this reminds of something that I'll never, ever, forget. Me, my ex-girlfriend, and Jasmine attended to an event that was held at the Children's Center of Antelope Valley (CCAV). I honestly can't remember what the event was, but my guess would be that CCAV had something to do with Valentine's Day event, with food, games, music, and candy. Somewhere in between 6:00 PM-6:30 PM, the Valentine event was about to end soon. The music had stopped, and the event stopped 1 hr. early. Jasmine left, and it was just me and my ex. She had a look on her face that something felt off. I tried showing her love, respect, and affection, but she pushed me away as if she wasn't having any of it. She even said this, "You and I can't predict the future of we'll be together forever. I'm sorry I'm not my-old-self, and I love you, but the relationship we have just doesn't sound that serious. You deserve someone better than me." Despite me reassuring her that I loved her, but the moment she said those words, I was completely speechless and flabbergasted. I left around 6:50 PM to get back home, and I couldn't wrap my head around what just happened. My mind just went blank after what my ex told me; I didn't know what to make of it. On the day after, she believed that I truly loved her so much. Everything was normal for a couple of days, but her insecurities took over, yet again. Days turned into weeks that she kept telling me, "We don't know if we'll ever be together forever. Neither you nor me can predict the future of us lasting forever."

Sometimes the best way to deal with a relationship is to walk away from it. Yeah. The truth sucks. I can't change that.

Something similar happened to me once. A Karen took a console from me saying that I was too old to play with it, I took it from her and told her STFU

Story 3: i honestly had a situation like that, although not as drastic, with my own girlfriend. We were both insecure though, so i understand her pov. But she didn't understand why my unconditional love for her, and sometimes doesn't even believe it, and she questions me everytime about it, everytime i told her i love her, she would just nod, sometimes she says it back, but she wouldnt get why you say you love someone. After another few months of dating though, after more deep talks about eachother, she finally understood what i meant by what i say to her, after i proved to her how much i cared about her and what she has to say, and we are much closer afterwards. We were already very close, we had each other's backs and would be there for eachother, but after that, we wanted to be together more than ever. So really, i think neither were a jerk, but they do need to be able to talk, and then decide what to do. If the girlfriend doesn't want to, then she would be the jerk.

Never lend out more money than you can afford to lose and if you do lend money to a friend don't except it back. If they pay you back you know they are trustworthy.

When I first watched Coraline I was 8. When me and my family left the theater, my little sister was traumatized and my parents were just talking about how they probably shouldn’t have taken us to watch it. At the time I was confused because I didn’t find the movie scare at all and had no idea why anyone would but definitely as I got older I could understand why one would be scared of it.

How entitled do you have to be to not only steal someone's game console- but to also slap someone in the face for trying to take it back??? Also story 3 reminds me of my mom- My dad mentioned that he liked Ellie Goulding's voice while we were listening to a song by her on a road trip and my mom got SUPER jealous and upset about the fact that my dad liked a girl's singing voice that wasn't hers. Some people are so insecure- that girl in the story is crazy and incredibly manipulative and he needs to leave her ASAP
