Everyone jokes that an ENTP is just an INTP that's had a few too many shots. It's honestly not too far off. More social flow(Fe), more impaired memory (Si), and the first two functions are mostly the same. I totally vibe with INTPs, but they prefere to avoid humanity. And I respect that. We both live in our heads, enjoy deep topics, love to overindulge in things like good food, and good distractions. We both regularly sleep a lot and have some level of disdain for ourselves and others. We are deeply lacking in the basket of fucks reserved for day-to-day activities. INTPs and ENTPs are just twins that more-or-less help eachother not be such collasal fuck-ups. They help me think better, and I help them people better. But both of us are actively making excuses to not do the laundry.

Every test I've taken has me split down the center as an I/entp. How possible is it that an amnivert who uses equal amounts of ti/ne as dominant functions and equal amounts of si/fe as inferior functions? Usually not exact but my introverted and extroverted functions are very even not just on online tests but through my own observations.

Would it be an odd question to ask about differences between an ISFJ and an INTP? I know that that may seem obvious at first. ISFJs have Si Fe Ti Ne and INTPs have Ti Ne Si Fe. However what if an ISFJ has autism, and that makes it hard for them to socialize. Say the ISFJ becomes particularly introverted both cognitively, and behaviorally. Say in doing so they develop a powerful Ti, how would you tell the difference?

Actually on that note, I'd love to here your thoughts on how things like autism influence the way someone might type themselves, or get typed by a professional.
@unme1834
@unme1834 3 жыл бұрын
A big difference would probably be that the other functions serve the dominant one. So for an ISFJ, their highest priority would be the accumulation and immersion in their impressions of the concrete world because that's what Si pays attention to. So the other functions would help to achieve this goal. For an INTP, it would be to theorize and figure out what makes sense to them, so that they can create a logical internal framework. The other functions would again serve to meet this goal. If they're very introverted, then both of those goals might be present, but it would be important to look at which one takes precedence and which one they tend to focus on as a default.

@@mbutterb3002 Neurodivergent people may have more similarity with others of the same neurotype than their MBTI type. Meaning, an autistic INTP and an autistic INFJ may be more similar than said INTP to neurotypical INTPs, or the INFJ to neurotypical INFJs. At least that's what I observed so far. Ditto for giftedness and for personality disorders like NPD.

I was starting by to wonder if I’m really a isfj and not a intp. The thing is though I think isfjs are much more desirable and likeable because they have Fe higher up. one of my friends is a isfj but I don’t connect that great with her. and isfjs are extremely sensitive but intps can be too or hide showing it.

Asura, can you give an example as to how an INTP would go about doing a painting vs an ENTP? Like would ENTPs incorporate more surrealistic subject matter? That sort of thing.
@Niveous23
@Niveous23 10 ай бұрын
I feel like the only difference would be that an ENTP would jump into the painting faster and grasp it quicker. An INTP is perfectly capable of studying that type of art and framing a piece squarely in that camp. They also have the perceiving function, and are quite creative and imaginitive already. I don't see an INTP wanting to engage in art, but I don't see it being a particularly tough task either. My dumb ENTP Ne dom having ass absolutely LOVES surreal art. My brain is already a mess of hastily stitched together nonsense. My only true superior in raw chaos is probably the ENFP. But INTP would totally be able to show out, they just need more time to do it.

As an ENTP i see types like intj and intp that have so much like me but hyperfocus on some things. that is good for moneymaking at least short-medium term. but entp make the best philosophers because we hyperfocus on the art of broadness, of objectivity, and having the broadest/greatest perspective. This makes us like oracles if we go too far into it. unfortunately for most of us we are not immortal spirits (which would suit our soul the most) but are bound by mortal flesh and thus we need to make some money by zooming back down to eye level and produce some short/medium term things to sell.

This isn't a question that just pertains to this video, but mbti types in general. Is it possible for an extroverted type to score low or very low in extroversion on the big 5? I understand type is just a lense, but is there a certain line there that can't be crossed? Interested to hear responses
@victorcorcos

It is not likely, but it is possible.
@emstratman
@emstratman 3 жыл бұрын
It's extremely possible. Some extraverts have non judging extraverted functions first instead of T or F. So you can be extraverted with things and need to expend your energy on facts or intuition, but not people so much (example is ENTP's top function being extraverted intuition which is an observer function, while Fe, which is more people focused, is 3rd). Also, I've read many ENTJ's and ENTP's don't like people. So it's a spectrum.
@victorcorcos
@victorcorcos 3 жыл бұрын
When I say it is not likely, I mean that there are scientific studies approved on Psychological Journals that performed experiments with people and showed a high correlation between Big 5 and MBTI. The correlation, however, was not a 100%, but 90% for the extrovert/introvert trait. (I tried to put these studies here, but the youtube is deleting my comment if I post a link) Therefore, it is not likely, but possible to have a “extraverted” MBTI personality (EXXX) that can score low on Big 5. However, one thing that people forget in my opinion is that the introvert-extrovert trait is not binary, but a spectrum. I’m ENFP and I scored like 55% as Extravert and 45% as introvert on Big 5. This result is a big Yes for me, almost ambivert! It is also known that ENFP is the most introverted of the extroverted mbti personalities, which I completely agree on my case. One day I want to be alone and another day I want to interact with people, principally on the ideas and curiosity level (my Ne takes a big role on my extroversion). Thanks!

@@timefortee Was I, aren’t Ne doms always bragging about their ADHD symptoms? I am cursed with it too, and there is nothing to brag about! Purpose here means life purpose, as in being motivated by something greater than yourself. I am not limited by MBTI letters, as I make use of all the functions, but life purpose is associated with Ni, which by the way, in Jung’s description of it, could be described as maladaptive daydreaming. Many Ne users report being affected by it as well.
@timefortee
@timefortee 3 жыл бұрын
@@bio.Luminescence Yeah, Ne-doms and sometimes -auxes oftentimes are mislabeled with ADHD, when their hyperactivity is not a disorder at all. Btw stereotypes don't take into account that neuroatypical Ne-doms can be extremely driven and goal-oriented and have a clear purpose they strive for, like Light Yagami did (albeit for the wrong reasons).

@@timefortee To my knowledge, Carl Jung was the originator of the eight cognitive functions. He was a psychiatrist who first observed these neurological/psychological processes in his patients and then decided to share them with lay people, because he thought it was relevant to the general population. So-called perceivers are constantly letting so-called judgers know how much they hate to plan things. We all use perception and cognition (‘judging’) in our interaction with our environment. Logically, any imbalance in one direction to the detriment of the other might be pathological and have a negative impact in our lives. Jung dealt with those imbalances and he belonged to an age when mental health professionals attempted to heal all their patients. If you are a balanced individual, it is very good for you. I myself have some healing and improving to do, especially in the outside world sensing department. As for the rest, I am somewhat balanced. Not so long ago, I remember my ‘shock’ when I realised that Ni is described by Jung as akin to maladaptive daydreaming, in the sense that for him, people who fantasise are incapable of bringing any of their many ideas to fruition. It was then, after much reflection that I realised that Jung’s functions were pathological and not normative like MBTI made us believe. Imagination has always been the beginning of many great ideas, and obviously we then need to tinker with it and plan how to implement them in real life. This seems obvious, but for the mentally ill it can be an impossibility because they lack the focus to do so when they want. I have seen people brag about not being able to synthesise a story they read or watched, when these are skills young children learn to do in school. Do you now understand what I mean? Introspective tools like MBTI can’t be used to validate cognitive shortcomings, but could instead be the beginning of self-awareness and improvement, probably with the assistance of trained professionals. I might even add that it always felt weird that imagination, which we all possess and have constant access to, was divided in external and internal. Imagination is always internal and can be both passive and active. It is truly limitless in its scope and we can all imagine and think (where do we draw the line?) many things at the same time, kinda like web browser tabs. We can even appear to be every single thing in our imagery, from animate to inanimate and at the same time. I love imagination, and while being absorbed in it can be distracting, in it lies all the answers to our many questions. No other journey can compare to the magic of the inner journey.
