Previo al concierto de Philip H. Aselmo & The Illegals en Teatro Coliseo, tuvimos la oportunidad de conversar unos minutos con Phil Anselmo, con quien abordamos diversos tópicos, desde la intención detrás de esta revisión al catálogo de su antigua banda, su pensamiento sobre sus actuales compañeros musicales, los detalles de su proyecto En Minor, sus deseos de colaborar junto a Zakk Wylde y su profunda admiración por Slayer, entre muchos otros temas.

Al fin un entrevistador que parece alguien que va a conciertos y sabe sobre Groove Metal! se nota que es fluido y natural por eso Phil se siente tranquilo así deben ser la entrevistas.

wow el entrevistador llevó a Anselmo a un éxtasis de recuerdos y emociones. En un principio estaba muy cerrado el hombre, pero wow como fluyó con todo. Buen trabajo, de seguro Anselmo no olvidará esta entrevista, muy profunda muy buen material.

@@alexguerrerovasco1128 que se yo, tampoco es para tanto wow wow wow. La mitad de la entrevista fue pantera pantera y re contra pantera. De estar hasta la pinga de que le rompan con pantera por eso hace los temas para que ya no lo jodan.

@@edybocman76 ya lo se, son excusas artísticas que toman muchas figuras para volver a la escena y mantener vigencia con el público. El mismo dijo de encontrarse en el público padres e hijos. Pero lo demás lo sabemos casi todos los que seguimos la carrera de Pantera. Yo hubiera referido esa oportunidad que no siempre tiene un hispano para ahondar mas en su persona y sus proyectos, que le cambiaron notablemente la vida en los ultimos años.

I love this interview, its been a long time since I dont see Phil so confortable like now, it so really cool, man. I am one of those guys who grew up listening to Pantera, I am 46, and I have the best memories of when I was 16 or 17. Actually I work in a office, dressed as a business man, but deep inside I am the same headbanger and love the heavy metal, man.

Same here. Except I am 33 so i def grew up on it 99-2004, dime died 8 days before I turned 18. I've seen every band, Phil's been in. Slayer and phil in November!!

I just turned 76 and am a huge Pantera fan from the moment Phil became the vocalist and forced Pantera to change from hair metal to hard core to match his vocals,i saw Pantera 11 times and have every album on Vinyl,including the original banned album cover on the Far Beyond Driven album that was in music stores for 1 day before being pulled.

Have a few shots of a good Cognac , smoke a fat ass hash joint , put on some Pantera & headbang with your hifi ratteling the neighbors windows . i chose to be the old guy who still gets high as f--k and headbangs listening to a hifi stereo system very few umder 60 can afford while smoking only the most choice bud & drinking the best liquor. So when you hit your 70s you can chose to share a doobie of Top 44 Skunk bud with your grandkids while showing them why all rap music sucks balls, get em stoned & put Pantera on for them .give them the gift of music & teach them to chose great pot over opiates like i chose ,my grandkids are all headbanging stoners after work ,what im proudest of is that im a black man as are our grandkids, when stoopid white kids are driving around blasting M & M with saggy pants my grandkids are blasting Pantera & Frank Zappa while wearing pants that fit with belts too lol

Casi me hacía llorar la expresiones de Phillip Anselmo, y el entrevistador le dio al clavo: toda la rudeza y crudeza con la que se expresa es por que se siente como un vaquero triste y solitario, la vida lo ha convertido en una persona con el corazón duro, pero por dentro es todo lo contrario y casi se rompía con la entrevista, muy buena entrevista, me gustó mucho. Man, hacer una entrevista es complicado, pero mas complicado aún es sentir mas ameno el ambiente para que el entrevistado se sieta de la mejor forma para hablar tan abiertamente, un 10 de 10 para ese entrevistador 😃

El concierto de PanterA en Chile en 1998 fue Genial, brutal... Tanto asi que era recordado con cariño por los hermanos Abbott, Y tenian pegado el poster de ese concierto en la pared de la sala de ensayo y estudio de grabacion de los PanterA, en la casa de Darrell, en Arlington Texas... Que buena entrevista, la primera en mis 44 años de metal, que veo a un Anselmo autentico, que no se cierra al primer intento de saltarse del libreto prestablecido, probablemente sea la naturalidad y autenticidad del entrevistador, quizás porque la mayoría de las entrevistas a los grandes del metal, están desaprovechadas por pseudo periodistas sin background, ni pasión por la música, abrazo viejo, sigue adelante

Gran entrevista y me quedé con ganas de mas. Siento un amor único hacia Pantera y no exagero. Yo tenía entre 16 y 17 años cuando escuché por primera vez metal y fue Pantera ese primer grupo. En el año 94 o 95 los vi en vivo y fue demoledor. En el año 1998 fui a esperarlos en el hotel donde se hospedaron y fue todo un fin de semana y pasé varias horas esperando verlos y sacarme fotos y no lo logre pero si a través de la ventanilla de un auto arrojaron púas y pude agarrar una y es de Rex y aun la conservo guardada en un sobre y no se ha borrado. Podrá haber mejores bandas de metal pero Pantera tiene todo mi corazón por todo lo que significa para mi como conté lineas mas arriba. Voy a pasar el resto de mi vida llorando las muertes de Dimebag y Vinnie

The interviewer did his homework! Good questions. Only little gripe I have is don't interrupt Phil! He's a thoughtful fella. He takes his time and chooses his words carefully. Give him a minute to extrapolate, dude. The smiles at the end!!! :)

@@blackfeiticeira If it were on my schedule to interview slow talking, long story telling Phil Anselmo, I'd plan for an hour or two in case he was feeling chatty. He routinely does 2 or 3 hour interviews. If he was done after 30 minutes, I'd have time to drink a coffee before the next interview, and if he was feeling talkative, he could say what he wanted to say without having someone cut him off and finish his sentences for him. That's just rude.

Yo los vi en Mexico en el 98....fue lo mas chingon de mi vida...yo era apenas una adolecente y estaba loca por pantera...tenia 13 años la primera ves que vi un video de pantera y me encantaron...especialmente Phil..me enamoré de el y hasta la fecha creo que es el hombre más masculino que existe

I haven't really followed what Phil has been up to since the end of Pantera. I've read a lot of hateful things regarding him and the tragic end of Dime and Vinnie. At the end of the day, Phil was awesome fronting Pantera. He may have had his demons but which musician doesn't? Pantera created wicked music, if Phil can keep those songs alive by playing Pantera with his current line-up then that's great. The music they created deserves to live on.

La verdad entre lineas es que Phil anselmo ya no tiene a nadie que se lo impida. Los hermanos Abbott han muerto y el bajista no pinta mucho allí. Los otros proyectos de Phil Anselmo no son malos; pero nunca tan exitosos como PANTERA. así que, ya con 50 tacos, es comprensible que opte por convertirse en una banda tributo de su antigua banda (un refrito) para satisfacer al mercado de la nostalgia y ganarse la vida mas tranquilo.

Creci escuchando pantera aprox tenía entre 5 y 7 años lo escuché por primera ves por. I hermano mayor aora tengo 33 y en vdd ni dejo de escucharlos a lo largo de todos estos años es un gusto muy arraigado por PANTERA mis respetos para este grup se extraña a Darrell a Vinnie en vdd siempre kise ir a un concierto cuando todos ellos tocaban fue un sueño ke tenia pero nunca se me dio por las circunstancias, mi edad pues no me mandaba solo , mi situación económica hubieron muchas cosas ke impedían pocas veces vino a México y como 4 y vivo lejos del Df pffff😭😭😭 aora ke veo de gira a phil y su nuevo grupo me pega un nostalgia se me vienen recuerdos y sueños ke no pude hacer realidad en ese momento espero poder asistir a un concierto aunke ya no estén los demás del grupo y una selfie con phil ese será mi trofeo más preciado 😭💪👊🏆🎸🎸🥁 del sueño ke tuve de niño

I’m 46 though I love it all I feel like I missed all the BS because I never ever read a magazine but I did have your music which in my mind matters the most to me so 2022 still jamming so your doing something right so don’t doubt what is never lost which is your talent hands down the best so keep doing what your doing it’s working for me

Tremenda entrevista sencilla,directa y al grano nunca había había escuchado a Anselmo hablar de otra banda como slayer eso sí que es bueno.....viva el metal acá en mi país puerto Rico es una lástima que esté muriendo el metal por otros géneros que no tienen que ver con el metal perosoy fiel al metal..el rock never death

Muy buena la entrevista, tuve la posibilidad de verlo con the ilegals el año pasado en Argentina. Tengo 19 años, y pantera fue mi comienzo como músico. Ahora soy baterista en una banda y percusiónista en 2 orquestas. Gracias phil, gracias vinnie, dimebag, rex. La musica es una arte hermoso. Nunca creí poder ver a pantera en vivo, y analice cada una de sus canciones del 90 en adelante ritmica, melodica y armonicamente. Ahora mismo me disperce un poco de pantera, ya que estoy escuchando otras bandas del sur de EEUU que son muy cercanas a phil... Como eyehategod, Down, superjoint ritual. Pero las raices no se pierden y en el momento que tocaron this love en el teatro flores en Argentina el 2019 y llego el breakdown en el que sorprendimos a phil gritando "no more head trips" fue hermoso... Él aplaudió al publico y gritó esas mismas palabras para llegar al break... Nunca hice headbang como en ese momenti... Hermoso, liberador, revitalizante... LLENO DE ENERGÍA!

I really loved Pantera.. i really loved Dimebag.. i was shattered when he died (killed) .. i continued listening to Pantera songs to hear it's guitar and Phil Anselmo's voice over and over again remembering at the old good times when He Vinnie Dime and the whole band where ruleing the Metal scene .. respect dude
