I live in UK and my mother refuses to teach us our language and does not want me to visit the village - despite everything, me I am coming back home soon to see my people. I love Igbo traditional dances and food and people. It is a pity most Igbo people abroad do not help others to learn the language - I have asked my friends to help but they did not. I can speak Yoruba a bit but no Igbo. My Grandma was from Bayelsa and they even speak a completely different dialect, she passed away years ago so do not even know which place she is from. When I come to Enugu, I will hopefully learn about my grandfather's place.

Total Respect, my dear Son ❤ Not sure why your mom made that decision. Many mothers here in America are teaching their children Igbo language. My two adult children, 25 & 23 respectively born and raised in the US, are fluent in Igbo language. Many of our children here understand the language and speak a few basics. So, it's on your Mom, not " Most Igbos. We take our traditions and heritage seriously home and abroad.

Why would you say that? I am an Igbo man, but you should never wish to be anything else than who you are or else know that you are suffering from inferiority complex.
@lawrenceigboekwe7208 Жыл бұрын
@@sonofnok2153: your very rude and thoughtless statement is, absolutely, unnecessary. We all know that no one has a choice as to which ethnic group he or she, was to be born into, and we all are where we found ourselves. You should allow her to express her fantasies. The fact that she merely said that does not mean that she really wants to be recreated. That was just a matter of excitement and, has nothing to do with whether or not she is proud of herself.
