Enya was born Eithne Ni Bhraonain in Donegal, Ireland. Enya studied classical music at college under private tuition. On leaving college she was asked by Producer Nicky Ryan to join her siblings in their family band. She did so for a short time, but found it too restrictive musically, and so in 1982 she joined Nicky Ryan and Roma Ryan in a creative and business partnership. Enya's first commission was to write a score for Sir David Puttnam for his film "The Frog Prince". Then, the triumvirate secured the soundtrack to the BBC documentary series 'The Celts'. Enya was then signed by Warner Music and all three by EMI Music Publishing. The first album of this contract was "Watermark" with the hit single "Orinoco Flow". This was followed by "Shepherd Moons", "The Memory of Trees", "Paint the Sky With Stars", "A Day Without Rain" which produced the single, "Only Time".

Yes totally agree with you here. I love when Enya crafts some really powerful dark and ominous songs like Tempus Vernum or the shamanistic energy avalanche of The River Sings. That brooding atmosphere only Enya can create.

The last time silent night was this well received by the world was 1949 when the Mormon Tabernacle choir sang it! I'm amazed that God let his lead singer get away from him!

What many people don't know is that her recording of Oíche Chiúin is all the way back from 1992! I've been listening to her since the old days of The Celts, Watermark, etc. She inspired my own music career & learning the Irish language. This music is so timeless - it will still sound this amazing 100 years and beyond from now - so much love & thanks for posting these songs :)

I heard her music for the first time in the 80s. She visited Venezuela with her song "Orinoco Flow". Simply amazing. Her music has accompanied me almost all my life.

At 81 I have been fortunate to listen to the early 40's big bands to the most precious voice of Enya. I thank Creator for giving the World this special beautiful lady and her sounds. I hope to be able to listen to what's next on her horizon. May the Creator bless her. Peace!

I am recovering from a bad fall from a ladder. In a studio apt to be near my daughter & multiple Doctors. Enjoying Enya immensely as I recover with numerous broken bones & brain bleed. With work & long commute had not listened to her for years & years. I agree. Bless you Enya & everyone trying to heal.

Enya exudes such peace and calm in her hauntingly beautiful voice. We played some of Enya's soothing music for my wife during her final hours and we would like to think this brought her comfort. What a wonderful way to leave this troubled world

Missy Glitter Vlogs yes, it was 1988 when I first saw her on a video on tv in an hotel in Amsterdam, Orinoco Flow. Then we went to Ireland on a tour and the Tour Guide played her in the coach, it was beautiful, and they were so,proud of her. She started recording in her garden shed. She was late with a band called Clannad, then went it alone.

I remember my father through these songs. He left me and my mother at holy Christmas night, last year. Respected Madame Enya's awesome melodies bring back those moments and feelings of that night. We're Indian and Hindu religion, but it's very strange that after few days at his funeral night my mother dreams him wearing a snow white dress and a white crown of flower on his head. He was speechless, just shaking me and my mother's hands, and vanished forever. Christmas is a touchy memory to us.

I went crazy when she posted a photo on Instagram a couple of days ago. She uses to appear (when she does) during this season time. My head exploded thinking that she had definitely came back. It is good enough to know she’s still around. I got very sad and concerned when her father passed alway back in 2016, right after the release of her last studio album. I kept on checking her website daily since then. On this Christmas I could wish her nothing but happiness and joy. Hope she is well and taking care of herself. I just love what she and Roma did to my life throughout their music and poetry. XX

@@Doremifasol558 Well, I stopped listening to enya after reading her lyrics and understanding what they meant. Some of her songs do reference Paganism which was something the Irish believed prior to Catholicism. She has an album called The Celts for goodness sakes. I also think Enya is a bit creepy. Her song melodies are amazing though. I still follow her on facebook which is where I saw her repost that pic from 2015 album.
