I fitted a Q53pro in our Golf Cabriolet and it works well for us. Gave up with Android Auto and use TomTom for sat nav with the built in gps. Gives us all we need for live traffic problems etc. The FM radio has not proved very good especially when driving out of our normal area. It fails to track changes in frequency very well. Now changed to a DAB module which works well using the built in aerial. The original VW DAB radio was never very good. Think it pays to keep things simple. Keep up the good work.

I’ve got the VWA12. I only really use it for Apple CarPlay and it’s fine for what I need. Interestingly I don’t use the car much but it very rarely has to do a full restart - maybe once or twice since I fitted it.

Looking forward to getting my vwa12s-6g. Ordered off of Amazon here in the states, after watching your videos and recommendation. Even picked up the fakra male/male adapter and screen protector to do it right all at once.Thanks for all the information you have provided to your viewers. Hopefully the unit i receive is a newer one that comes with all the updates from the factory.

I have the 12s-6g, it's a very nice unit and works flawlessly, the only problem I have with it is the reboot it does from time to time when I turn on the car, no solution yet although I received a MCU update from eonon

Trying to find a fan solution. Got some parts coming. It was designed for one but for whatever reason, they didn't install one even though the space is there. That could be part of your problem, it could be getting to warm. Customer service is useless and they are clueless to the same products they sell

The A12S can only have upto 1 hour of hibernation...after 1 hour of no car ignition the whole unit shuts down. No the Q53pro you could set hibernation upto 3 days. Its to avoid the battery of car going flat.

@@jmangus83 I had it installed for 2 months now, I don't know how hot it gets . It's not the problem I have with it as the reboot happens only when I do a cold start of the car, it never happened while I was using it, even for hours.

I got the latest software from Eonon support, it now sleeps and wakes up almost instantly when the key is removed and reinserted. Worth a support request for the latest software. Still having problems with DAB performance ,but not gotten into that one yet.

Very honest video there Dave i have both Q53pro and the vwa12s and personally think the Q53 pro is a much better unit i dont now why they back tracked on the vwa12 🫣 Keep up the good work mate look forward to seeing your next video be good 👍 Screen on the vwa12s is much clearer than the Q53pro as well but i do think the sound quality is better on the Q53

Hi Dave. I have had the q53pro and I have recently upgraded to the 6g, both really good units. The annoying thing for me is on android auto on the 6g unit I can't seem to make the Map or music full screen, on the q53 you just had to double tap and it would go to full screen, don't suppose you have experienced this? Cheers

I have experienced this, since the latest android auto update Full screen is no longer an option. Its nothing to do with the unit itself it android auto. Hopefully they will bring the feature back in upcoming future

I have a VWA12s and I have fender audio but it’s only playing sound on the driver and passenger door speakers and the sub in the truck but none of the tweeters or the rear door speakers. Any ideas?

I have very little experience with Fender, from my experience doing a factory reset has sort the issue for most people 🤷‍♂️

Great review, one question I have is do you lose the MFD information on the cluster panel? Stuff like oil temp, trip duration, trip mileage and so on?

Is there a way to adjust the back up camera grids on the vwa12s? That's my only issue with this. The head unitnis great. Better after the update the other day.

You mean to turn the dynamic lines off? Yes, can remember off hand but it's in the settings, will look when next in the car

No just adjust the lines. My camera is just above the rear plate so I need to angle the lines down.

Dave, I love the videos, incredibly informative. I got the VWA12 for my Jetta based on what I'd seen. I love it. I have one issue though that I can seem to fix. When I receive calls the other person gets feedback, they hear me twice it makes the call function unusable. Any ideas? Thanks Phil

@@whatsdavedone104 it's a Samsung galaxy s24. I've changed the mic from external to unit and back, I've stopped android auto from accessing the mic on the phone. I'm running out of ideas tbh. The next option is a reset I think to see if that cures it. Thanks for the reply

When you install any aftermarket radio the factory oem mic will no longer work.....when you remove the factory radio the canbus line to oem mic is broken.

Hey fella! My spotify stopped loading on screen for my vwa12s. It still plays music, but doesn't show any details on screen and the steering wheel controls don't work to skip or reverse tracks. How do I fix this?

I don't use Spotify but I would uninstall and reinstalled. Might have been a Spotify update or something 🤔

@LoneWolf-ph9xc wifi is controlled by the hotspot on your phone....I use a Samsung s23u and have modes and routines set up so when Bluetooth connects it automatically turns on my WiFi hotspot. When using Android auto/car play WiFi is automatically turned off on the unit

I got the VWA12S-6G for my Mk6 GTI, and connected my reverse camera to it with the A0580 but it wont display at all. I can't find any settings that have helped, may have just gotten a dud A0580. Did you have any trouble with your cameras?

When reverse is engaged and showing the reverse camera screen, tap the screen once and it will give you different options of camera type input....tap the option that is correct for you camera and it will display reverse camera image....more details on it are in the manual 😉

@@whatsdavedone104I've been looking through the manual and can't find anything on it. When I put the car in reverse it comes up with a blank feed with a yellow triangle with a black exclamation mark on it like a hazard sign. Tapping the screen still isn't giving me any options after I updated it

@@whatsdavedone104 As far as I can tell yes. The A0580 connects to the yellow cable marked reverse camera, a three pin connector marked A0580, and the 26 pin cable in my car. I appreciate your help with this, I came across your videos which helped guide me towards Eonon and I even got a little extra off the price with your code

I can't really comment on that as I have never had a Pioneer unit....I feel that if you tweak the Built-in EQ then you will get the best sound for your liking....the unit has far more features over the smaller screen non android units.

Had the Q53Pro in my MK6 for a while now, it just shits me every day, forgets what radio station i have it set to, always goes to 87.5, when i select the radio station it then also forgot what volume i had it on, always 1/3 volume, wifi comes on connectors but doesnt work, if playing through usb it doesnt always play, you have to remove the usb and reinsert or reboot it, its also very slow with the GPS, rubbish unit imo.

Mate I've done a firmware update on my headunit, and it's gone from doing a full reboot/start every so often, to doing it everytime I turn the ignition off, and I have to wait for it to boot up every single time I get in my car. Anyway to stop that mate? It's driving me mad

If its the VWA12S then go to settings, car, extra settings, top of list shutdown delay. If its the VWA12 then I will link you an update file as you can't manually change shutdown delay

Which head unit are you running? Have you checked for updates of app within Google playstore on the unit? Google play might have an update waiting

Hi, Dave thanks for the reply , it’s a Eonon VWA12 , but I am running the hotspot connection from my iPhone .. it runs if I do a reset of the unit , but after a day or so it , comes up with message ..KZfaq won,t run without Google play services ,which are not supported by your device .. I will check updates tomorrow ..

Hi Dave, is it REAL android 12 or the spoofed android 10? You can find that out if Netflix app updates right from the play store or not. Also doyou think that hi-res backup cameras are the reason for the reverse image delay?

It is real android 12, I have tested using aida64, Eonon don't fake android version. My reverse camera isn't high resolution, I think its down to the fact its only 2g of ram so takes a split second longer to operate

@whatsdavedone104 Hi Dave, I have fitted the 12S E to my VW CC. On the quad lock the bottom quad is empty on the left but has connections on the right. However the quad coming from the car is the opposite way round. Should I pop it out on the stereo quad and put it innthe other side. Or is it for the Skoda set up. Everything seems to work fine but wonder what I am losing from the this connection net being made. Any idea?

@whileykfj1 good question....if its all working then just leave as it is....I don't actually know what the spare wires are for at a guess I would say factory Bluetooth module which these units don't use 🤔

I have watched so many set ups to see if others have the same thing going on. Everyone plugs in to fast for me to see properly. Anyway, keep up the great work. #wish spent the extra £20 on the 6g though.

Dave I've the Q53 Pro I'm having issues with incoming calls I can hear the other person great, but they say they from my side it's tinny and low I'm using the mic that came with the head unit Is there a way of improving the mic when returning incoming calls Cheers mate Keep those videos coming 👍

Strange, I have no issues with phone calls on my vwa12s or my q53pro, I know some people with phones have issues but hadn't heard of any Android users with the issue.....have you tried turning phone off and back on to see if that sorts the issue?

Hi Dave i have the vwa12 ,and thanks for your video,it help me a lot with install .I have one problem and i cant find how to fix it.The problem is when my phone connecting automatic with Android auto after if want to go in home page eonon and to go other apps for example like youtube or google search ,I tern on the wifi and conect with hotnspot from my phone....so after this the connection is stay only few seconds (1-2)the wifi is drop!and automatically it takes me to the Android auto!!So if I want to use all the android apps with wifi must disconect the bluetooth!So this the right way?Even when I tern on the system and go to wifi and tern on ,they no left me to go to apps and straight change me to Android auto.What i make wrong?Thanks in advance.

You have android auto set to auto connection, turn off phones Bluetooth, open android auto and tap the cog in bottom right. Then turn android auto back ground connection to off. This way you can control when you want android auto running.

OK thanks ,I make that ,but I can't understand why when I'm using android auto and switch to android Home Eonon the wifi is stil drop!.Now I can tern on the wifi and go to the app ok , but when to switch to android auto and back to android home the connection wifi is drop! Must make manually ,to go to wifi and put the connection from my hot spot ! Is tha right way??

@nasoshas7485 that is correct, android auto, on all brands of unit not just Eonon, turns off WiFi. It's a very common asked question as people think there is an issue with thier units, there is no issue that's just the way it is 😉

Ok thanks but after 2 hours I find something, maybe this help and the others owners. Look ,us I tell you when I switch from android auto ,to eonon the wifi lost ,(it make disconect) For some reason I don't know why, when I pull down the task bar I see all the time the hotspot option is On !!! So when I change to turn off, strait away the wifi is go On and the connection almost immediately is back !!And this is very easy way because you no go to wifi to make all from the start! I try to deactivate permanent the hotspot but I'm not have this option!If you find something to make the hotspot permanently off tell me.Thanks Dave a lot for your help

I received a VWA13 yesterday....not had much of a play yet but I think its just a VWA12 running android 13.....I would say get the VWA12S6G, is a smoother running, quicker unit....and something big is coming for all A12S6G unit owner in the next couple of weeks but can't say any more at present 😉
