I am so glad to have gotten the old Space Marine Combat Patrol just before it went out of production. Having gotten basically this box plus an Impulsor for almost the same price is an incredible deal in hindsight.

They’re still hanging out in LGS, I just picked one up for 136USD, the also had 2 of the prior release of Vanguard Task Force box.

There is a silver lining in that you now don't **have** to own an Impuslor! So if you want one you can instead get a Gladiator and magnetise it to run as either.

I got 2 of em in that magazine but didn’t have the see through stands, so mine are glued to their base (would have to find a player to play against that didn’t care or I might one day add a cork based stand underneath their base to lift them up)

Joytoy has been releasing new 40k action figures almost at a monthly basis, they even teased ones from the Horus Heresy line. So far though, they have released World Eaters, Iron Hands, Imperial Fists, Salamanders, a lot of Blood Angels, a TON of Ultramarines (with Guilliman just released), Dark Angels (and they teased the Lion as a future figure), T'au, Orks, and Necrons. Joytoy is earning a lot after getting the license from GW as there are a lot of collectors wanting a 1/18 scale Space Marine, like me.

11:35 As someone who worked on figurine production, the plastic molds are 90% of the production cost (tens of thousands of $) - my guess is that JoyToy thinks it'll sell enough of this kit, but not too many, so in order to make up for the lower wield mold they add a ton of gimmicks and trinkets (whose production cost is near irrelevant) to justify a higher price per model. The only good alternative for large statues + low production models is Resin (Molds are really cheap, made of the same stuff as the DYI videos on youtube) but not really viable for posable action figures. TL;DR For Plastic models you either sell a large quantity or really ramp up the price. For Resin models it's much more economical for lower production runs, but not viable below a ~200$ starting price (per statue) nor for posable stuff to this extent.

The dreadknight figure has metal parts because it helps add some stability so it can hold poses easier. Typically the bigger the figure the more metal parts it needs.

Hey, love your videos. Suggestion: give us battle reports about your 40k games. Maybe the community can give you some tips/advice, or at least see why you keep losing! We believe in you, one day those templars are going to win big! Keep up the cracking content!

The Dreadknight being so absolutely loaded is probably because the standard Dreadbois were pretty lackluster in terms of features, so this is basically their way of a direct upgrade. You could interchange a singular fist with the Venerable one? The Furioso and Redemptors had articulated fingers I guess? Personally, I would love if they made a Magnus the Red an April Fool's Thousand Sons 4 pack that. Like you get all these amazing promotional pictures for the figures themselves. And then when you buy it it's just an empty box full of dust. Obviously they'd ship the actual figures a few days later.

This box with an impulsor is literally the dream for me, I have a 3d print for a gladiator tank top that fits PERFECTLY for the impulsor and is just sugar on the cake

A big nope on this Combat Patrol. They've just ratcheted up the price THREE times. It started by being half of a discount box set. Then they got a bit more expensive going to the Start Collecting box. Then they got even more expensive going to the first combat patrol box. And NOW they're even more expensive, with no discounts, and without the Impulsor! Fark that noise.

Joytoy should make a 1/18th scale playset of of a Space Marine Strike Cruiser. To move it around you'd need a flat bed semi-trailer and a pick-up with one of those flashing "OVERSIZE LOAD" signs on top of it.

The problem with smoke is it has to be used for something really tactically significant because it could be an externality problem. In other words, if there is an equally appealing target available, you're just throwing away the command points. Also, ever seen some of the third part kits to cover up the pilot of the dreadknight?

4+ HEAVY is for heavy weapons generally, so it makes sense. It's basically the same as in 9th, except in reverse. True, having long range guns for a squad that can deepstrike and move quickly doesn't make any sense, but hey phobos needed at least one heavy hitting squad so here we are. Models look cool though!

They usually put in metal like diecast in the legs to help them figure stand up and give it more stable poses. I’m not surprised the dread knight has some in it. I can’t wait till they do imperial knights LMAO.

I made sure to pick up the combat patrol before it left just to find out it's the only combat patrol not supported in combat patrol XD still got that juicy deal before it left though

I wanted to buy the vanguard, but not at that price. Ironically, I wanted infiltrators for secondary mission farming but the box has no discount to me when I definitely don’t want the suppressors and are indifferent to the eliminators

I now have an urge to buy that Nemesis Dreadknight, get the terminator out of the frame, put an actual terminator on the chest and run that sucker as a Canis Rex proxy. He is the smollest baby, but most powerful among them

It has metal joints because the joints would weaken quickly over time and wouldn't be able to support it's own weight before long. It'd end up with floppy noodle limbs. See perfect grade gundam kits for similar issues.

I will say, I think the only real reason why GW keep the Vanguard box around instead of releasing a multipart Suppressor squad is because they know they can squeeze out more cash from eBay resellers, who most people go through to get Suppressors.

the Space marine vanguard have gone up a lot in price. this is in Danish Kroner but here you can see how much. it where 600kr now it is 850kr

I think they’re good action monkeys. Maybe sit them in the back and take pot shots at enemy high damage units and with some luck you can get that -1 off.

I doubt they will make the suppressors their own kit since they're on a sprue with other models from that box. It wouldn't be very cost effective to make a whole new mold for them.

I knew the real reason they were getting rid of old models was to help force people into buying even worse and more expensive kits. Gws video games are doing the same type of stuff. Gw has always been greedy but hopefully people see through this and dont just accept it
