The shake awake feature and battery life issues you raise are certainly valid points, but I would hardly call them trash for those reasons alone.

Eotech holographics aren’t for “oh shit I need my gun” situations, they’re for “I’m about to take his stuff” situations.

Eotechs cater to people with astigmatism that can't use red dots because they're holographic, another option are prismatic sights.

EOTechs do have an auto off feature. If turned on with the up button it’s an 8 hour auto off. You f turned on with the down button it’s a 4 hour auto off. So yes, there is no auto on option, but is an auto off feature.

People have been complaining about Eotechs for years and nobody talks about the pros and that's because they treat them like another red dot, your faster and more accurate with a hologram if you use it as intended.

I put a EOTech on my DD years ago, when they were all the rage. A couple years later I bought another one for my home built AR. I still love them and have left it on for days and days with no issue. I mean, it has served me well for 20 years so I cannot complain.What sold me was the picture of a EOTech with a hole in it and it still preformed.

Hard to beat under NVG's though.

I prefer a holosun or the vortex Huey gen 2. Or a prism. I am not a soldier so I don’t need the best shit money can buy. Mine work great.

This video sucks for two reasons. 1. I've left my EOTech running nonstop for weeks without it dying. In both Iraq and Afghanistan. Leave it on, change batteries every once in a blue, done. 2. I immediately can't take you seriously when you say "site" instead of "sight".

I’ve been rocking my 20 year old 512. Takes AA’s. Lasts a decent amount of time and aa’s can be found everywhere. I never have an issue remembering to turn it off. Worst case I just find a couple cheap AAs that I have a million of

Not going to mention the fact you can have the glass get shot out or shatter and it’ll still work and project the reticle where as you drop a cheaper optic too hard and it ceases to function. Are they a shit load of money, yes. But you definitely get what you pay for for everything you get with an eotech especially after they fixed the thermal drift issues. Quality duty optic

They are great optics for soldiers who know when they will be going into action. For home defense, I think red dots are a better option.

Well... if the battery life is bad, I'd hope the sight wouldn't have shake awake. Reason... put your rifle in the car to go to the range and all those bumps and dips in the road are activating that shake awake. That shake awake wouldn't work very well in this case.

To be fair i doubt the military didnt take the battery life into consideration since raids dont take 700 hours to perform

That battery life is rough. That being said, i don't generally care about shake awake. My favorite optic (I own) is the primary arms md-25 (gen 1). No shake awake. I leave it on and change the battery once a year.

Honestly the battery does suck in the shaked away is definitely not there but it's a battle site and that is exactly what it does. 15 years. I've had two of them. I bought more than 10000 rounds through them and multiple rifles. They hold zero and they work great. Battery compartments aren't covered and battery juice are corrosion. I have to say they do last the test of time

I chose the holosun 512c over the eotech exps3 ..I could afford either or and I still went with the cheaper holosun just because it has a better field of view and a much cleaner image..I'm not using nods so I don't need night vision holographic technology..and I liked the holosun titanium magnifier with my 512 better than the eotech exp package for half the price and I didn't have to change the battery for over 2 years and I never turned it off so shake awake is great..the only reason I liked the exps3 better was the fact that it was quick disconnect and that's it..other than that I think holosun is far superior for all around options..plus it has 3 reticles

Not an optic people should get as their first red dot. Its the one you get when you have the money and already experience with a bunch of different red dots I do have to say the battery/ no power on and off buttons do suck though. Things that sig holosun and others are currently improving with their new red dots. Eotech needs to step it up. This optic shouldnt be worth over 500 dollars in todays market imo

I like Holosun 512 and aems they have solar fail safe, shake awake, and it can tell with solar panels how bright the reticle needs to be it auto adjusts brightness and works perfectly
