I've always loved watching your 'hypnotic' cycling trips - the visuals and the music you choose has always been first class. Now you're talking to camera more lifts them up a notch. Doesn't have to be about just bike stuff. A narrative about the local area and history you travelling through would be an extra bonus.

Another great video!! I just love the flexibility of bike touring - problems with one ferry, get another one - the journey is just as good. Thank you, Gianni. I'm looking forward to the next instalment. Safe travels

That's the plan! For once not having constraints on time I can learn to slow down and be more flexible. Thanks!

Thank you for this video Gianni, I love following your progress. The bike looks so comfortable, I’m envious of your free time to do such a tour but I retire in a couple of years so who knows what I’ll get up to - you are giving me ideas! 🤗

As a Dane I have walked Long Distance for many years in Belgium, and I do miss walking along the canals, and in towns. I would have loved to bring my Brompton, from 2019. Finn. Denmark
@BromptonTraveler6 күн бұрын
Thanks Finn. Yes, I loved the quiet of the canals and Belgium stunning cities. Germany now but looking forward to your country next!

Another superb video, I 100% relate to your excitement, the feeling of crossing a border into a new country with different customs and languages. The bicycle cover idea is quite smart, I've always hauled my panniers into an accommodation with a lot of effort and sweat - nearly not worth it, but you remember a missing pannier could ruin your trip. If you every come through Sweden there is a small chance we may bump into each other :)
@BromptonTraveler6 күн бұрын
Of course leaving them on I take a bit of risk but only so that where I can park the bike somewhere safe. Otherwise I also carry a Dimpa bag that can store my panniers in a safer room if I stay at a hostel or so. After Denmark I will cross from Helsingborg to move to Norway but might also return to Sweden in the way to Finland. Will have to see how it goes 😉

Hi Gianni, this is Maryam, good to see you cruising through green and beautiful Belgium countryside. I know you will be in Holland next. After Holland I suppose you will be heading towards Denmark through Germany. Or you have different plan? Let us know either way. Wish you tail-wind all the way.😍🚴♂

Hi Maryam, so nice to get your message! In Germany now and slowly moving towards Denmark next. All the best! Thank you 🙏

An army style poncho is great to keep your bike camoflagued or dry from overnite dew or rain. Can be an emergency rain coat. Use as camo having a nature break in the bush. Like your videos. Watched many of your Brompton tours.
@BromptonTraveler6 күн бұрын
indeed Graham. i do carry a separate poncho too! maybe a little too fussy but using it on the bike as a cover it would get a bit messy, but that’s me!

The long queue in Dover is what is known in the U.K. as the “Brexit dividend”, or sometimes the “Boris queue”, named after the politician who through his lies brought the nuisance of this extra waste of time to the UK.
@BromptonTraveler4 күн бұрын
Silly me, how could not think about that 😂 Still I did take the Euro tunnel by car months back and it was much smoother! Looks like the port has had its time 😜

Gianni, thanks for posting another video of your tour. I thought a main title of the tour followed by a subtopic which you have Ep. 1 - England or Ep. 2 - Belgium would be good. Those of us who are following your tour know what is Ep. 2, but anyone following you for the first time may wonder Ep. 2 of what. We need a main title for the whole tour followed by Episodes...

Thanks for the idea! these videos are in a playlist ‘series 1’ which I suppose could be also called Europe…i must thought, all going well, there might be times when I move through a different continent and therefore a generic Series seemed best?
@5217tuber7 күн бұрын
Some subtitles would be helpful to let us know what the canal names, tunnels, etc. are called.

I bet the bigger wheels are more comfortable on the cobbled roads compared to the Brompton wheels. 👍
@BromptonTraveler6 күн бұрын
Quite. Small wheels struggle on cobblestones.

Thank you for the new update! What is the bike cover you have?
@BromptonTraveler6 күн бұрын
Nothing special. Was bought at a Lidl supermarket for a few pounds. Anything light and large enough to cover a motorcycle would do…

We concur with your assessment of the cycling infrastructure in this part of Belgium (having just returned from a bicycle tour in the area a few weeks ago ourselves) . Way at the top of the scale with the Netherlands.
@yagi39257 күн бұрын
No, at the top of the scale is Denmark in terms of bike infrastructure (I'm Belgian, by the way, so this is not a chauvinistic opinion).
@BromptonTraveler6 күн бұрын
Indeed, and stunning cities to visit too! Denmark also promises to be good…

I spent a year in Belgium as a student some years ago. The cobbles (paves) aren’t much fun on a bike. Maybe just as well you are now on bigger wheels than a Brompton!
@BromptonTraveler6 күн бұрын
Ah ah, le pavé! Would definitely not be ideal on a Brompton…

Yes it is, a Japanese ex colleague gave it to me as I used to work for a Japanese company. Cycling infrastructure in these country put anywhere else to shame not only the U.K. 😉. Many thanks!
