Alhamdulilah it was such an honour speaking to Fatimah about the challenges that Muslim women are facing regarding finding a God-conscious Muslim spouse. Inshallah the solutions are there in our sacred texts and prophet traditions, inshallah as an ummah, men and women we need to return to Allah's guidance.

This is really nice explained video and the Muslim girls that don’t want to marry or delay it is one of the reason is when a girl see their parents how dad treats their mum bad then the girls do get scared that is one of the reason as well

Jazakallah khair. One of the areas this doesn't address is that there are many practicing Muslim men who are not willing to financially support their wives, due to western influence, which is putting huge pressure on women to do multiple roles!

Exactly. When the men come to see the women now they ask " what qualifications have you got?" and " can you drive?" and " I'm going to get a mortgage to buy a house, will you pay towards it?" (These are the 'religious' men, even though they know mortgage is haram). People make it sound like it's the women who have changed and are picky. It's both. Women have had to adjust to the demands of men, they have to now have a career, take care of house work and kids and the husband on top of that. Whilst the men would just have to work.

Oh yes, very true. Women must be given a role to choose at different stages in life. No matter what, a man cant be pregnant and go through everything that comes with it during and after, then I don’t understand why they would want women to do everything all the time- her money or career is her choice but since a man never really goes through physical stuff and emotional role changes, he should be okay with being the provider.

Salams Zaynab, you're right that problem does exist, and should be highlighted because in an Islamic marriage it's not the role of the wife to financially support the family etc. This is one reason I'm such a strong advocate for pre-marriage advice. There is so much Muslims need to learn about before they get married.

Love these podcasts and topic is quiet interesting. Can you please do a topic on what the marriage is like after the wedding. I feel like we are all encouraged to seek pre-marriage knowledge. However it’s hard to practice the sunnah of being good wife / husband and we actually need to constantly refresh our knowledge and read books to be reminded of our duties.

The reason young women don't get married is because the men are childish & irresponsible and not men. (I live in the west and it's even worse here). Men here drink, go clubbing, have gfs, do everything thats haram, dont pray, dont give zakat, dont go to the mosque on friday, don't have a job, are unfaithful and then in the end of the day when it's time to marry expect the girl to be a DEVOUT MUSLIM AND VIRGIN. It's soooo hypocrite that I rather stay alone than with a loser and instead invest all my free time in improving myself. I'ts not that I dont want to marry it's that I value myself and allah so much that I don't want to settle for anything less. At this point I feel like only Allah can help me with finding a pious spouse...

Alhamdulilah, there are plenty of pious Muslim men and women in the ummah, inshallah you will find a God-conscious compatible husband. I don't think over generalising or stereotyping Muslims (men or women) helps anyone get married. Inshallah, the main thing is to follow Allah's guidance and if others choose not to then advise them.

The problem is that in these times of fitna, the definitions of so many basics are altered. What is the purpose of life? What are the duties and responsibilities of a married woman? These answers are now changed even in Muslim households. The purpose of life should be to serve Allah SWT's deen and be a positive force in the ummah. But it has changed to now become financially independent for the sake of lifestyle and prestige. The duties and responsibilities of a married woman used to be to create an Islamic and peaceful environment in the home and raise excellent Muslim children who would grow up to serve deen. Now those duties are seen as a desolate prison and muslim mothers are told their excellence only lies in work outside the home. Yes, some Muslim women have to serve the community with certain professions, but that is not how anyone chooses a profession. Women choose professions based on what makes them happy and based on their personal ambitions. They usually have little to do with helping society. Also, more and more Muslims, especially in the West are cut off from extended family, which is a huge loss in terms of raising children. Grandparents and aunts/uncles are meant to assist us raise our children in the Islamic mold. The only thing people now care about is personal lifestyle. No care about helping the ummah or the world. It's all about building personal wealth. And that reflects in the "fears" of young generation of Muslims. They are too afraid of being "stuck at home" but not sacred about ruining their akhira if they don't raise proper Muslims.

Our parents are not aware about our wrong path.At this age most of us are allready eligible for marriage but our parents and modern society says that do something worthy and wealthy or be a professor or doctor or entrepreneur etc, then go for marriage! I hate this mordern mindset ! Young generation are going towards haram and our parents are thinking about the wealthy future not about the "kabar"!

About the racism and colorism being a result of colonial influence is simply not true. Where I come from, it is the Arabs and Desis that discriminate against us, not the white. The former, as a result of slavery which they used to practise. And not to forget, even way before colonialism, the Prophet SAW had given warnings against racism and all and not to mention some of the previous scholars who gave fatwas that black women can choose not to wear the hijab because they aren't beautiful. Simply because we have Islam doesn't mean all our mistakes are as a result of outside influence. If that 2as the case, then the Muslim world wouldn't have fell, which came directly from their leaving the religion of Allah, and as a matter of fact, even the whites themselves wouldn't have been racist because Allah sent his message to every nation, and the message was one, Islam, though the fiqhi rules differed, there are things like tawheed and morals which stayed the same. The presence of Islam doesn't make us mas'uumeen. Muslims have problems which cannot be attributed just to colonialism.
