I wish more people like Mark were out here in Portland OR. I work hard on comedy. I swim in it, eat it, fuck it. I do open mics daily, 2 to 3 a day, bomb weekly, host my own open mic every Monday, do whatever shows I'm given, usually scraps, but I take whatever I can get because for some reason, all the comics who have been in the scene much longer than me, do not give me time in Portland. I think they're bothered by me doing new material all the time and not having a hard 5 min video. But I'm only 2.5 years into this. I'll have 5 min video soon, so I hope that gets me on shows. I just think it's strange how I get overlooked, even though I kill and work hard. I feel like it's my skin color and being straight. That's part of it. People would much rather get the POC or letters crew up there and give them time. But I just don't get why they continue to shoot themselves in the foot that way. Just because you fit into a demographic doesn't make you funny, and many of these people would make better politicians. IMO.
