4 years ago I had never heard of de-transitionners. I assumed Trans was like gay, it just happens. Then I learned about the potential secondary impacts of social to medical transition procedures and was in shock. Then I noted the susceptibility of young gays and children/adults with ASD. Then I reflected on my own passage through pre and actual puberty as well as my own children. I found Stella and Sasha and listened to them quietly, fearful of being labelled terrible things... twice I listened to the GWL podcast seasons... and now, I am so grateful to be aware and thoughtfully approaching this issue. Thank you all for your sacrifices and service. ❤

@@Gingerblaze This! And the fact that CBT for ‚gender dysphoria’ has been compared to gay conversation therapy is also one of the driving reasons we are stuck where we are. Nobody wants to be that person who tries to "convert" someone, even if the real treatment is simply making them comfortable in the body they were born with instead of medicalizing them. And it is sickening and unethical…conflating the cruel gay conversion practises with talk therapy for gender nonconforming youth who might just turn out gay later in life.

There are many people that are ex-gay too. As much as it feels like we must have been born with the things about ourselves that we don't choose - sexuality and how we interact and relate to others and to society in general is developmental. I can update my memory of him with delight at the thoughtful and deep thinking adult he has become. His story of medical abuse needs to be shared far and wide. this was such an essential watch for me as a desisted female, i can draw so many comparisons between my experience with GAC even though my path started later at age 16. its so clear how homophobia and misogyny impacted our nascent identities. i felt so ostracized for being a weird GNC girl at my school, and doctors immediately reinforced that subhuman view of myself by presenting transition as a journey to wholeness. i wish the negative feelings we had towards our bodies could’ve been deconstructed in a compassionate way, but instead we were immediately pathologized. and as a desisted female i dont know what thats like on the other side, and it would be easy for me to see all trans identified males as autogynophilic if this information wasnt being shared. thank you Scarlet! and happy detrans awareness day 💚🦎🏁

Even for many trans identified males, the autogynaphilia developed as a result of the very same things. Narrow definitions of what personality traits are considered acceptable for males and females and homophobia but also the assumption that being a gnc or effeminate male = gay.

I remember feeling very "squirmy" embarrassed maybe? during a time growth up if ppl would even kiss on TV. Kind of grossed out, attracted, and repused all at the same time... at exposure to a even a hint of sexuality that was so mild, not graphic at all. I also started being aware of innuendo IRL too. It was so uncomfortable especially if i felt someone was seeing me in that way. Maybe i was 10 or 11?? A long time ago :) I can't imagine how deeply affective the things kids are exposed to now are at these particularly vulnerable and formative periods in their development. We really need to stop allowing our children to be exposed to so much pervasive sexuality, especially in unrestricted environments like the internet 😔

Exposure to kissing between parents or healthy displays of affection between people in trusting committed relationships has an immensely positive impact. This is NOT what children are exposed to now. It is often graphic detachaed sexuality, often combined with violence or aggression, humiliation, and conducted between strangers or worse, amongst people with zero respect for healthy personal or societal boundaries like age, and family relations.

It needs to be ramped up gradually, especially for people who don't have high BP to start with... because it can cause syncope. Her story really exemplifies how and why it's really impossible for any sort of preteen--no matter how precocious, intelligent, self-aware, or demanding--truly to be able to choose their entire life path at such a young age. It's truly scandalous that the medical professionals she dealt with early on were not much more deliberate and honest in their approach, both with transition overall and with her and her mother as the people affected. You having to look at my face in public for a split second may cause you to feel disgust as you may feel I'm obscene. Many want the COVID vaccine gone and consider that fascist and like genetic engineering. The elimination of Tik Tok is fascist because it ends our citizens ability to use it based on conspiracy theories and loose ethnic associations. I suppose you think we are fascist because select members want to educate you on how they would like to be treated. We currently have policies in court where you can't refer to people by racial slurs. I suppose that is restricting your freedom but being asked NOT to call someone something is not compelled speech. @@joane24 thank you for this comment. It seems, like so many words these days, the real definition for "forgiveness" has been co-opted and redefined to mean something else entirely. Very much points to why language manipulation is at the root of this and other confusion and why maintaining clear definitions is so important to understanding both common concepts, ourselves and one another.

We as a society decided to imprison those who cause life-long harm to innocent children, we don't forgive them. The fact that children have been harmed thru no fault of their own is bothersome for anyone with a scintilla of compassion. Following your logic, we should just forgive the perps, and everyone can just let it go and live happily ever after - perp and victim alike. NO. The harm these surgeons who followed WPATH's SOC caused Scarlet and countless others is unforgiveable. Accept it.

Joane24’s definition of "forgiveness" is incorrect. It's doublespeak. Forgiveness doesn't mean all those things, forgiveness means allowing the wrongdoer back into one's life. All that other stuff about letting go is in fact better described as "acceptance", as balalaika correctly explained.

Another absolutely disastrous and truly dishonest thing that was done to Scarlet had to do with what she was told about dating. I think so many gender-affirming people, who usually have good intentions, make believe in their minds about how accepting straight men would be of transwomen. The truth is that the vast vast vast majority of straight men would never knowingly date a transwoman, especially if she hadn't had bottom surgery.

Do you mean you a court appointed guardian but lived with your mom? Wasn’t sure if this was part of your parent’s custody agreement. No pressure to answer this but it seemed like you might have wanted to say more about it. It seems these kids/young people have no sense of self. They feel so unworthy and unimportant that they dont even know what to think of themselves?? I was a teen in mid 90s but would i have been trans? I say no to that question now, but im 45. My 45 brain is not the same as my 14 yr old brain. I hated my body, felt like i was looking in on everyone, didnt feel real, felt worthless and felt like no one gave a crap about me. Didnt really have close friends. Im not autistic but have some traits. Now, im okay with my body, but i still dont feel like im not in the world, not real. I cant look in the mirror or at pics of myself. It took me 42 years to finally feel like im worthy and deserve love, too. Im doing better than i was. Anyway, i was emotionally neglected most of my childhood and teen years. I was physically neglected for several years when i wad 5,6,7. My parents were nice. My mom became a stay at home mom when I was 8. She was always there with me, but not emotionally. I did my own thing or hid in my room. They were never emotionally or physically abusive (my maternal grandmother was emotionally abusive to all her grandkids). They were teen parents and didn't know how to raise kids. I dont blame them, and they did the best they could. But i wonder if parents not emotionally being there for their kids might be one of these reasons? Not like the parents are purposely doing it. But all the time we're on our phones and getting distracted. Being ignored really hurts. It really bothers me when im talking to someone, and they're looking at their phone. I feel they're not engaged in the conversation. Also, kids not having as much independence and space. Not learning things out for themselves. What they should and shouldn't be doing. Im curious if those are some of the reasons. And of course it being a trend and online peer pressure saying how great they'll feel if they change. I had a ED and thought when i got skinny enough, I'd feel better. NOPE! It made me feel worse. But it makes me really wonder what's going through their minds. They need strong, supportive parents who'll be there for them, but also push them towards independence. I was terrified to do anything when i was a teen. My parents forced me to learn to drive and get a job, not for money, but for life experience. Im so glad they did because id probably still be at home terrified to do anything. Im still scared to try new things, but I'll push myself to do them.

If I understood this correctly, there was a doctor who pushed harmful drugs onto Scarlet, threatened to separate the family if the mom didn't go along, wouldn't answer the patient's questions about the expected effects of the treatment, in fact punished Scarlet and his mom for asking questions. Furthermore this doctor made his child patient aware that the doctor has some sort of sexual or possibly asexual preferences (why??) and Scarlet to this day won't mention what that is. It sounds a bit like an adult over-sharing their sexuality with a child and asking them to keep a secret. I hope I'm misunderstanding this, because that would be piling on even more messed-up stuff on top of everything else Scarlet was subjected to. But on a happier note, Scarlet is intelligent and resilient and will move on from this. He and his mother managed to protect him from getting castrated, as those quacks were pushing for, and that is a major win. This case is so upsetting.

No, it's different. Did you not want breasts? Did you want a cock, balls, and a hairy chest. I'm a eunuch like scarlet and neither of us wanted the harsh secondary sex characteristics of manhood. I starved my male puberty out and then got castrated and went on low dose estrogen. We didn't want to grow up physically. It's one of the rarer gender patients and we have to typically do I dance to get treated since we don't really tick the boxes. Most of us end up dead or in prison because without protein restriction or hormones we have to surrender our gift. It's the "male cherry." I only know a handful like this who were initially precocious and didn't like it and sought to alter their path. There's other implications and few talk about it.

50:42 At this point Scarlet was talking about how seeing his body change as he was going through puberty (if a little quickly, if I understand correctly). He said that he felt like his body was changing too fast and that his body was warping into something unnatural. This seems to me a relatively normal, but unpleasant part of puberty and for people like Scarlet it’s massively exacerbated by the homophobia they’ve faced and the constant medicalisation, to the point where pathologising puberty and his own normal physical development feels necessary (tho at this stage he’d already had some gender “treatments”). I guess what I’m saying is - does any kid get through puberty and through the unbelievable changes their bodies go through unscathed?? Shouldn’t we empower young people by saying “yeah this period of your life if really hard, but you will get through it!” Not, pop em on the operating table then!

One can't imagine a more perfect case of misinformed consent. Not only is the patient badly informed but the pleas for information by son and mother are not only resisted by the clinicians but disapproved by the clinicians as resistance and denial. This also seems to be a case of gender confusion, not so much a clear wish to transition which would have benefited from talk, which in the end may have led to Scarlet appreciating that getting used to being a gay man leads to a lot safer and happier life than messing up his pituitary. By the way shouldn't a standard piece of informed consent to medical transition be that it reduces the dating pool dramatically as Scarlet discovered too late? Scarlet has done a good job of making peace with his flawed gender journey. Acceptance is important, but, he might benefit from a dose of anger. Scarlet is courageous to "add his story to the conversation" and allow clowns like me to opine on it. Where are the equally courageous lawyers?

His lack of mentioning dating and what men he is attracted to makes me think, he's in trouble. If he lets himself go past the point of no return, he'll have issues so bad and have no way to connect. Scarlet should have went for the orchiectomy and low dose estrogen as patient stated that womanhood wasn't thought about but controlling secondary sex characteristics was paramount. If you have these inclinations and fears of harsh male secondary sex characteristics before your teens, they do not go away. I know as I live as a male eunuch and had to do a dance to get treated by playing the "I want to be a woman card" to obtain the medicine and only the medicine. @@Anti-Woke310 I'm a gay male but utilized gender medicine (castration and low dose estrogen) because I didn't want secondary sex characteristics. Individualized care and counseling is what is required. One has to tell the therapist how they wanted their adult body to be. In my case, I just didn't want change. If hormonal development or hormonal transition is wrong for patient, they have to speak up and soon. If they want the social status of a woman that won't work out well. The patient has to embrace the changes regardless of how they present. I saw one video where this young looking guy says I'm a near 30 year old man. Look at me. I easily look less than half my age. My question to that person would be, did you look in the mirror the last 10 years? if most women cut their hair short, they resemble boys. This will be used not to make gender medicine better and tailor it to patients but will be deployed to outlaw gender medicine. The moderates and even some liberals won't mind that it's gone, when it goes. We're not questioning so much when care will cease for all transgender patients; we are now questioning what will happen to us. Black market and the government remaining hands off current users is best case scenario.

Stop treating legal adults like children. Ya might wanna lobby government and increase the draft age then from to 25 or so. Furthermore in so many words, you believe that cross hormones are malpractice by definition. There's little reasoning with you. We'll see how this one handles full masculinization. I don't think this will go well because around 11 or 12 I had the exact same issues as Scarlet and it doesn't go away. The key here is seeing how romantic relationships work for him after masculinization and whether or not he likes masculinization on the males he fancies.
