When my 01 work/tow rig needed a set of injectors after 340k miles I called and spoke with Dusty and explained the mods the truck has and I explained what I did with my truck and contrary to just about everything I read on the forums he said just keep it stock. I'm not going to lie I was a little hesitant but I decided to trust him... I am glad I did. The truck runs cooler, quieter, mileage is up and so is the power... I didn't need "more" injector to get the power I needed I just needed correctly running injectors. Couldn't be happier. Thanks again Chad from Hawaii

Thank you guys so much for being honest. I'm a new 7.3 owner and I do plan on towing a lot this upcoming year, cross country. Part replacement is something I was concerned about with any mods, but hearing that I shouldn't really UPGRADE anything, but just replace worn parts with OEM, since I'm at such a high mileage, makes these purchases easier.

Man, I love the info, and love 1023 diesel - - but if you guys aren't careful, you're gonna convince the majority of 7.3 owners that it is pointless to upgrade. I have an OBS, with stock injectors, that I sometimes use to pull an 8k-10k box trailer up steep grades in the Rockies. Prior to some mild tuning, exhaust, and dropping in a stock plus turbo from KC, it was a dog. Now, not only does it pull much better, but the EGTs run about 200* cooler (no intercooler) across the board - and smokes less. Not sure what the downside to that is, but I haven't found it yet. Maybe there ARE things that you can do -- within reason - that DO actually improve upon what Ford did in terms of BOTH reliability AND performance. I think lower EGT's while towing have to be better for engine longevity, right? No doubt people misunderstand much about all this, and are driven by the deep desire for huge HP gains that really do violate reliability in a meaningful way, but I think there are reasonable modifications that the average Joe can afford that really have no serious downside. Maybe I'm wrong, just some thoughts...

Ive built up different diesels. Exhaust temp is always what brings you foot back to stock protocalls or you watch things start to melt.

So what is your opinion about the vgt housings available for the s300 and s400 series turbo is it worth messing around with on a 7.3 with bigger injectors and a t4 turbo swap to decrease spool up time

I have a gtp38r w 1.00 housing and billet intake plenums on my e99 and a 2 PC pusher intake and 40hp tow tune and it refuses to make more than 17 psi even with the wastegate preload set to 25psi air pressure before it starts to open gate.. is it cause of the e99 injectors and the e99 hpop that really won't sustain above 2100 at 180 eot? I also have regulated return The previous e99 turbo would make 21 psi with an equally cranked wastegate actuator rod I've checked for boost leaks to 20 psi and found no bubbles from soapy water, it will spike 18psi ebp and no more ever and it does that when I hold it wot trying to make the 17psi and right as it hits 10 psi the ebp tapers of to 10 psi as the boost climbs I will check for exhaust leaks but the collector is fully seated and it had brand new bellowed up pipes

I have a 1995 7.3 f250xlt with the E40D trans. Can you tell me why scan tool is best for it? I'm having a hard time finding one for some reason or in not looking hard enough lol

Hey I have a 2003 f250 4+4 7.3 with 270000 miles all stock. I do non CDL hot shot so I pull a gooseneck trailer 40feet long with 10000 pounds my gvwr is 26000 pounds all together. Going up hill from 75 miles start to drop to 50 or 45 miles per hour. I need the best power on my build. Should I do a stage 3 build or what do you recommend?
