I hope to very soon relate to this. Been in the Army Reserves for 6 years and I’m working towards becoming a TACP immediately after this contract is over 🤞🏼🇺🇸

If you want to say screw waiting talk to a recruiter and see if they'll do a dd0368 for conditional release. I'm assuming to get afsoc as well but interested in cct but deff not ready physically yet.

Awesome to listen to a guy with a similar situation to mine, 8 years Army NCO that got out recently and planning on getting back into it in AF Special Warfare soon, great to hear about his experience with it all.

Would love to hear more about life at an ASOS. Do you still feel like you are in the Air Force? This student mentions how different it is during training, but how about afterwards?

Do all branches of AF Spec ops go through basic and then indoc together and then split into their various selection that is different for PJ, CCT, SR etc or is selection for all spec ops and then individual training? Thanks, just trying to understand pipeline.

Basic, then Special Warfare Candidate Course (SWCC), then Assessment and Selection, then PJ/SR/CCT go through Pre-Dive. TACP do not. Then, everyone goes through SERE and Airborne though at different times; then the PJ/SR/CCT will hit any number of different courses before their AFSC-awarding courses, but in a different order and with a different focus. TACP goes directly to their AFSC course. We have covered this a bunch of times, also- check out the page/IG page.

By any chance do you have this former army ncos contact info to ask questions about the pipeline? I’m also in the army national guard rn and am looking to ask more questions and advice on how to prepare from this same gentlemen who seems also to share the same experience as me

Thanks guys, I’m in the Navy and thinking about crossing over, the biggest stressor for me is wondering if the AF will take me?!

I’ve heard the AF only takes 100 people a year that are prior service. All I can do is try. I’ll have a Degree soon, with that and 5 years in the Navy, I should be good right?!

I’m not sure I’ll have to find out how to do the calculations. Run and swim at very solid. I need to work on pull-ups and sit-ups. But I’m confident I physical abilities. More worried about being prior service.

Really great Interview, SMSgt Love. Lots of nuggets of insight into the pipeline. Lots of candor, honestly, professionalism. That's the guy whose team you want to be on. Ruck 80+ lbs all over Bullis...embrace the suck w a smile. How does it roll if a ruck is equiv to 55-60% of your body weight (vs a dude who weighs 185-200)? Sucks to be you, or they max out at a certain ratio to body etc, or...?

Being prior service and not having to go to BMT. When did you get the opportunity(if at all) to get fitted for all required AF uniforms?

If you are near an active duty base who has a uniform clothing store, you might be able to try some on. I know lots of active duty bases has fitting rooms to try on clothing whether those are dress blues or regular uniforms. I would call them if you live near one.

@@Takeda235 My thoughts as well. I'd think they'd send you to whatever "GSA store" on base before you start training.
