The Palo Duro Canyon looked beautiful. Lots of color. That looked like quite a remarkable collection of RV’s! I’m surprised that it was free. My wife and I recently went to an RV show. After a while, they all look alike. The ones in this video have so much character and are probably built way better than today’s RV’s. Cadillacs was the least favorite in this video. I remember seeing the original pictures of what they looked like. Now it just looks like piles of graffiti. I would probably pass on this one. Thanks for sharing. Ram 👍🏼👍🏽

Your musings on the diversity and quality of those museum RVs is so true, Ram. We kind of had the same impressions regarding Cadillac Ranch as you did; but it's hard to resist stopping if you're passing through Amarillo.

What a difference in topography a 100 miles south makes in Lubbock where it it's flat red clay for as far as the eye can see. Palo Duro is very nice and worthy of a visit for sure! The RV museum is quite the find.

Very true, for that's the way we got there -- up through Abilene and Lubbock. Worthy for sure, although the Amarillo area itself is just prairie grass and cultivated fields as far as the eye can see, instead of red clay.

I have palo duro on my radar but I do not think i will be visiting any time soon (maybe later in the years). It just does not work for someone traveling cross country. I would love to appreciate it over a week, hike and all that.. not gun ho passing by. Caddilac ranch thing... i drove by it twice but because I am so long and I was hauling it both ways it was difficult to make that stop. Grr. looks pretty cool but also a little umm... just something rubs me the wrong way seeing paint sprayed all over the ground and crops and you can see from drone shots like someone was intentionally painting all the mowed gravel. Hard to believe its "overspray"... likely venue selling paint is "clearing out cans before recycling". Was really cool to see rv museum, especially the tear drop. My first ever rv was a little guy silver shadow tear drop. That's what got me into rving.
@GrandAdventure
@GrandAdventure 2 жыл бұрын
I personally had mixed emotions on the "overspray" (we'll call it that, even though it's not). The colored leaves of corn stalks caught my eye enough to capture it on film, but it's certainly not the most environmentally friendly gesture. Next time you pass through Amarillo give that RV museum a stop. You'll need a good hour to take it all in. It's created by the owners of a local RV dealership and they've assembled a truly fascinating collection.

Fun episode, Marc. Sorry you had to stay in a poor location for the week. That puts a real damper on the experience. You know, your first year of Starlink is going to change everything. The Cadillac Park was interesting. Especially the amount of spray paint encrusted on those vehicles. They're becoming blobs... liked candy bar Cadillacs. The RV museum was fascinating. That whole industry has come a long long way from those early years. What's up for next week?? Gord
@GrandAdventure
@GrandAdventure 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Gord! It was fun looking at those early RVs but you're right, they've come a long way. Next week is Lake Meredith National Recreation Area northeast of Amarillo. And yes, Starlink will be our game changer -- I've been bumped to mid-2022, but I've got a potential solution.
@gorrdd
@gorrdd 2 жыл бұрын
@@GrandAdventure What's the potential solution, if you can say???
@GrandAdventure
@GrandAdventure 2 жыл бұрын
@@gorrdd we're now using a Pepwave Max Transit Duo LTE router, with three SIM cards in it: Visible (unlimited), Verizon (150 GB) and AT&T (unlimited). That also gives us the ability to include WiFi over WAN in the mix (i.e., campground WiFi) and will eventually also allow WiFi over LAN once we can include Starlink in the mix. It's all drag & drop with automatic failover. In short, it's the cat's ass.
