Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh is known as City of Lakes. Bhopal is also among the greenest cities in India. This video is about Our “A Day in Bhopal”.
We explored the history of Bhopal by doing a heritage walk, explored beautiful lakes of Bhopal also with the famous Tribal Museum and also enjoyed the lunch at a famous restaurant of the city.
Just in case you have missed watching our previous Episode 2 - Udayagiri Caves, Sanchi Stupa & more. You may check the video on the below link.
Link - • EP 2 Sanchi Stupa, Mad...
Date of Journey - 11th May 2024
Upper Lake - We started our day in the morning from the Upper Lake (Bhojtal) of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. It is one of the oldest & largest water bodies in Bhopal. The lake was built by the Raja Bhoj. There we also saw the Statue of Raja Bhoj.
Gohar Mahal - After this we visited the Gohar Mahal which was built in 1820 by the Qdisiya Begum who was the first female ruler of Bhopal. This heritage structure is located along the Upper Lake.
Moti Masjid - After this we saw the Moti Masjid which was built by the second ruler of Bhopal - Sikander Jehan Begum, the daughter of Qadsia Begum in the year 1860.
Raju Tea Stall - Then we had Tea and Mava Jalebi at the Raju Tea Stall.
Taj-ul-Masjid - After this we visited the Taj-ul- Masjid which was known as India's largest Mosque. The construction of the Masjid was started by the Nawab Sahajaan Begum in 1871
Lunch Hotel Rajhans - After this we had our Lunch at the Hotel Rajhans. We had the Veg Thali in the Lunch. Overall we enjoyed having Lunch at this Hotel.
Thali Cost - Rs 240
Mrignayanee Store - After lunch we visited the (M.P Govt.) store known as the “Mrignaynee”. Here we saw some of the Handloom items & Sarees.
We Purchased 500g of Honey from the Store.
Honey Cost - Rs 174
Tribal Museum - Then we visited the Madhya Pradesh Tribal Museum & learn about the life of tribals & their homes.
MPT Boat Club - After this, we visited the MPT Boat Club and experienced the beautiful sunset from here.
Bhopal Railway Station - Then we visited the Bhopal Railway Station known as - Rani Kamlapati Railway Station. It is the renowned first world-class railway station catering to 13000 people on a daily basis while providing them with remarkable amenities.
There we also saw the rooms & Dormitory facility in the station. If you want to stay at the station you can stay there.
After this, we ended our day

I visited Bhopal many years ago, everyone told me to visit Bada Talab (the giant lake) and Bharat Bhawan. It was truly a fabulous experience to visit those places. I couldn't spend much time exploring the city, this episode reminded me of those days and I feel like visiting the city once again and exploring every famous spot of the town.

He has shown new Bhopal to you, new Bhopal station. The old Bhopal has segregated area of Hindus along with military cantts and airport. 2nd area is kohefiza, some rich greens and saffrons live there, then comes moti masjid area where only greens live and it's the most underdeveloped area of Bhopal. It's like 1970's area. Rest of old Bhopal and new Bhopal is developing. Old Bhopal has the airport, military cantts, ancient gufa Mandir of hanumanji and old Bhopal junction. New Bhopal has new Bhopal kamlapati station, great restaurants like Oliver's at arera colony which is considered a well developed area and somewhat posh, db city mall and some other posh areas are there, TT stadium and some big businesses. People go to 5 star hotels here for an expensive dinner night like the Taj or jehanumma etc. I prefer Taj - House of Ming. However, moti masjid has some Pakistani flags there so beware and it's extremely crowdy and terribly developed with no renovations. The peacefuls even stole the gold dome buck of their own moti masjid before elections, we can't do anything about them. We are tired. We are waiting for metro. If u come for Buddhist era tourism its everywhere. Buddhist caves and bhojpur (famousforits bhojeshwar (very old) temple constructed by king Bhoj and the dams which still exist) also outskirts of Bhopal, Bhimbetka caves almost outskirts of Bhopal. Not much but some 45mins - 1 hr..... But Bhopal isn't as developed as Indore, we have some very good ayurvedic doctors here and Bhopal is definitely not as good as Delhi or any metro city or even a state capital. Work is being done but slowly. Actually Ayurveda is still preferred here mostly so allopathic hospitals are less but they are there definitely. EDIT : Dhar fort was built first by king bhoja, rebuilt by mohd tughlaq, then peshwas etc came there. Near it is Bhojshala, these 2 are near Indore.
