We started the day from Gwalior and moved to Jhansi and then reached Orchha in the night. This is Day3 of our Madhya Pradesh tour.
This Video was shot on 29 oct 2022, Below are the activities we did on this day.
Following is the list of places we visited and the food we explored during our journey from Gwalior to Orchha
Introduction - Baija Taal - It is situated in the center of the city Gwalior. It was built by Baija Baj, who belonged to the Scindia family. It has a stage area in the center and sitting area alongside where there are steps for people.
Chaurasiya Poha Centre - They serve poha from 6 am to 12 noon only.
Poha: Rs 20, Its a street food cart, taste of poha here is good.
Sonagiri Jain mandir near Gwalior - It is about 60 km away from Gwalior. This village has Jain Temples on Hill. As it is a famous pilgrimage of the Jains, who come in large numbers to worship at these beautiful temples. Among these temples there is Shree Chandraprabhu Temple too.
Dilli Wali Dharamshala - It is about half km away from Sonagiri Village. We had lunch there at Bhojnalaya.
Peetambar peeth - We could not visit this place, though we went there but that day was saturday, upon reaching the temple, i realised that there was lot of crowd, so i decided to visit the temple on our way back to Gwalior.
Jhansi Fort - It is about 100 km away from Gwalior. This fort was built by King Bir Singh Judeo of Orchha in the 17th Century,
Narayan Chaat Bhandar - It is an old shop in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh famous for serving street food.
Aloo Tikki: Rs. 45
Dahi Vada: Rs. 40
Paani Ke Batashe: Rs. 20 for 5 pieces
Sharma Sweets - It is also an old shop in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh famous for sweets.
Kesar Rasmalai: Rs. 23 for 3 pieces
Rasgulla: Rs. 15 per piece
After this we went back to Jhansi fort to watch a light and sound show.
Ticket: Rs. 250 per person
Then we went to Orchha and booked our room at a Homestay developed by Madhya Pradesh tourism.
Tariff: Rs. 2000 for double occupancy
Mahua hill view homestay - Rs 2000 tariff on double occupancy only for stay, food not included.

Hi Harish, The History of Rani Laxmibai is very complex. She was brought up in the house of the last Peshwa at Bithoor. Peshwa rule was dead by then. Her Birth name was Manikarnika and after marrriage it changed to Laxmibai. Her Husband was NOT from family of Peshwa but she was. They were all Marathi speaking people. Gwalior was ruled by Shinde (Scindia) who were also Marathi in 1857 and she DID ask for their help except the Scindia family at that time were not in favor of her rule and preferred the British so refused to help her and she was left alone to manage. British had annexed the Gwalior territory as a tributary by then. Hope this helps clarify some of your doubts and truth behind them. But the Ancestors of Scindia were actually the reason why Maratha rule existed in Jhansi. Once upon a time Scindia were the bravest and best Maratha warriors but later rules got corrupted.

As far as I know, Scindias original capital was Ujjain and they shifted more northwards to Gwalior much later in the early 19th century.

Iske peeche ki kahani bhot complex hai. Kuch log kehte hai ki gwalior ne British ke saath subsidiary alliance krli thi. Vhi kuch log kehte hai ki gwalior ke raja ke saamne ek taraf jhani ko bachane ka option tha dusri or apni praja ko bachane ka toh unhone praja ko bachana zyada zaroori samjha. Iske alawa bhi kafi batein kahi jati hai par shi baat kya hai yeh history nahi ek mystery hai

बाली सर आपने जहां पोहे खाए थे उसके पीछे रानी झांसी का शहीद स्मारक और वह नाला था जो आपने नहीं देखा, इटालियन गार्डन नहीं देखा। तथा किले के नीचे एक पत्थर की बावड़ी विशाल जैन प्रतिमाएं नहीं देखी। आपको लगता है कि आप को मिस्र के पिरामिड देख रहे हैं
