That's why a lot of the other kits come with spacers for the skid plates. As well as new hardware, just like the one I got from Pro Comp. It's the same for the FJ Cruiser the Sequoia the Tacoma and what not. That way you don't have to go out and Source it yourself.

JB Weld or tack those spacer nuts on the backside of the skid plate or you'll lose them the next time you do an oil change. Good series of vids

Spc aftermarket camber bolts are a must next time u do an alignment. Also I found that the freedom offroad UCA's are the best quality. I went thru a few and I'll say that some designs are downright dangerous. The freedom offroad available on Amazon incorporate the modern style top down Toyotas oem bushing for easy service n reliability as opposed to the deadly uniball or adjustable style custom ball joint. I'm running 16x10 pro comp rock 97 rims with 35x12.5 bfg km3s since late 2018. No sway bars and dobinsons springs, struts and shocks feels like a Baja racer when u push it no body roll and flexes so hard I had to cut my front fenders up 9in with 3" heavy weight front springs and dobinsons lift struts. Dobinsons is insane quality can't say enough. They answer the phone too and are now knowledgeable in what u need to lift a sequoia n improve your ride

Yes. I’ve worked closely with Dave at Dobinsons. We’ve got the Sequoia lift figured out. SPC cam bolts are too narrow, at least in the 1st gen Tundra and Sequoia. I would advise against running them. I have the SPC UCAs on my Sequoia and you can’t beat the articulation they provide. I’ve been real happy with them. But yeah. You can checkout Dobinsons kits as well as many other good options at 1stgenoffroad.com

Probably use a universal bushing instead of a spacer on that skid plate so if the bolt loosens it doesn't rattle

Hey man great video, thank you. I am thinking of doing this soon when I get my lift, but i I did notice that diff drop made the brackets flush/touching the skid plate. Is there any concerns on damaging the brackets/diff with impacts on the skid plate with the that diff drop?

Won't lowering the diff increase the angle of the shaft between the transfer case and diff? Does this kit lower the front of the diff mount points or is the diff still "square" to the old position? Concerned about equal angles at transfer case output and diff input u-joints. Thanks for posting.
@spacecruisers
@spacecruisers 5 жыл бұрын
DMWI wondering this as well. I imagine it helps offset the strain on the CVs and outs some of it on the shaft. Although there is a bit of play in the shaft itself so maybe that helps account for the modified angles. Either way it’d be nice to hear an expert chime in on this since I think a lot of people are wondering the same thing after install.

I've been watching your videos since i'm looking into a sequoia to convert to an off-road machine. Pardon my ignorance, but wouldn't this particular mod negate, at least partially, the suspension lift by turning around and lowering the center drive train?
@jeffdoak8444

yes but your rear is still dropped so its not that big of a deal. a body lift dose nothing but make room for bigger tires so its not much difference other than it gets your transition and gas tank up out of the way too

1stgenoffroad If adding a 1-inch differential drop with that also increase the lift by 1 in?... My point if you add a 2in suspension or leveling kit + 1 inch for a total of 3 in?
@1stgenoffroad
@1stgenoffroad 6 жыл бұрын
Adding the diff drop doesn't add any lift. It only changes the angle at which the CV axle interfaces with wheels. If the angle is too steep, it wears out the CV axles too fast. The Diff drop relaxes that angle.

Hey this was great to see! I've been researching 100 Series and Sequoias for a possible purchase, and I keep reading about "diff drops". I had no idea that it was so simple. I was thinking there'd be all kinds of brackets and cutting and stuff like on an IFS GM kit. Good to know it's just a few spacers. Though I'm concerned...is that all that is holding in the diff, those two bolts? There HAS to be some other structure or support on the other side of the diff towards the rear of the vehicle, right?

Toyotas are really well made long lasting cars...after years of cadillacs Lincoln's and a few other toys I bought a sequoia. ...no leaks really sturdy and quiet inside ...just make sure you do your timing belt on time...I'm at 200k and they say they go to about 500k before they croak. Easy to work on too.. Try to get a "limited" they have all the extras.

GREAT VID BY THE WAY !! I WANT TO DO LONG TUBE STAINLESS JBA HEADERS AND A CAT BACK EXHAUST VERY SOON !!

Headers and exhaust would be cool. Send me a video of that. Not sure what the problem is, but could be the CV axles grinding. Could be. Those engineers at Toyota are pretty smart and the angle of articulation of the CV axles and wheels IS what they wanted it to be. Any time we change that angle, we disrupt what the makers had in mind. The diff drop spacer does help remedy this.

Lots of 1" drop kits out there. Is 1" the max you can drop due to the cross member ? This only lowers the front half of the diff. is the back not able to be lowered as well due to the above mentioned cross member ?
