I’ve had problems with paper clutter for years, then parents died and I inherited their paper and business records as well as paper that they inherited. The oldest piece is a marriage contract from 1870. So I hired a bookkeeper and over the course of a month everything was filed in chronological order. We are going through it newest to oldest. As soon as taxes filed, estate closed out I will have a shredder make a house call. After the party, I will need to learn streamlined systems going forward. Feel lighter already

💕💕💕I’m doing the 21 paper throw away every day into a box to burn & throwing away out into the weekly dumpster, some days it’s more than 21 papers, I just keep plugging, yes my piles are shrinking, my goal is to complete in 2 years, or sooner, been doing this for 9 months related to listening to several Y-tubes & broadcast like this, I worked as I listened, I am proud of myself, however, I am reclaiming my house into a less mess, so my girls want be overwhelmed with all this junk when I celebrate my last day on earth, I still feel overwhelmed. I’ve been going corner to corner in each rooms. Some of my rooms are 90% decluttered, I do have one bathroom that is 100%, I only worked on the rooms that hubby & I are living in, I still have two other bedrooms that don’t even have beds in them. I would like to make one of those rooms into a guest bedroom to sleep in, also have the garage, I have got the garage where we can park two vehicles in it and walk around them, it took several years to get myself in this mess, I am not sure if my Goal is set correctly but I’ll keep plugging day by day, I would love any suggestions, I received suggestions when I listen to your broadcast working my Goal, I appreciate these broadcasts💕💕💕 yes I wish I could reach this goal sooner but my anxiety is holding me back and the discouragement of my family always making fun of me or laughing at me over this, I’m not the only one lives in this house because when I get done with my clutter, guess who else has clutter, will he work on his? I don’t know, or will it be left up to me?, I’m venting, journaling with out using paper. Amen. Thank You

My mom saved everything. I found a calendar from 1965 with the notes of my hourly feedings. I dont have any baby pictures because they were on slides! 😊

I think the main challenge with paper clutter is that we're trained to organize them like we do taxes, so, by calendar year. But not all paperwork is equal, so it gets difficult to figure out which thing to keep for how long.

I divide my house into sections for cleaning. This week is bathrooms and my office. I have been going through my filing cabinet and shredding documents prior to 2022. Trust me I am not done yet. I saved way too much. I am enjoying the process. I believe I'm on bin #6.

22:30 - my mother owned a small buisness in the 80s-2000s. Computers weren't as "reliable" then....she tried to keep her accounting books on a computer, until the disk said "read error". She had to do 4 months of accounting, by hand, AGAIN. She NEVER touched the computer again. TODAY this wouldn't happen...but "back in the day" it sure did. "But waht happens if there is no electricity?" - is my MAJOR question.

All my devices can be charged in my vehicle. No electricity….. no problem. No gasoline…… maybe a problem.

I'm sitting here watching this with a pile of paper clutter right in front of me. I even bought a book about what, and how long to keep it. It seems like it won't go away. I purged a file cabinet, and it took me weeks. I try and throw out all of the ads immediately. Next are the books...

@25:00 🤯❤️🔥🤯 “…any clutter… Where do I even start?? …If you don’t understand *why* this is such a problem for you, you’re not going to experience enough pain in order to remove that excess from your life. But if you really understand *why* , you’ll understand ‘what is all this clutter getting in the way of?’ *Where* is it taking up space? - It’s not just taking up space in your home. It’s taking up space *all throughout your life* … in your head, in your heart. It’s weighing you down, psychologically. And if you let it go, you also let go of that *weight* .”

20:00 - i have converted most of my bills to email/digital. I don't really check the mailbox ( not afraid, jsut have some specific reasons) and - as a good friend of mine said "when the lights go out, so does any residual debt!" Something calming about that.

I love this episode. I am also obsessed with ridding myself of paper clutter and digital clutter. I need to get my husband on board though. He thinks because I DON'T have paper clutter that he needs it. Like he can't trust that we don not need every bank statement even though I show him that he can see them online at any time. It's a process and a journey.

I use the photocopier machine at my local library and e-mail my documents to myself. Super fast! That way I have two copies of my new digital document: the e-mail and the saved copy on my computer. Your e-mail account is really an unlimited free iCloud storage for smaller items.

Get well sooon , Ryan ! With all the ever present talk of covid, we forget that there are just plain bad colds & flu going around! And they take their toll, too. I had a bad cold a couple weeks ago. I drank aloe vera juice, slept more, took vitamins and kept taking extra good care of myself until it ran its course. Not fun tho! Cheers for a full and speedy recovery !

I only keep books that are extremely sentimental to me, which includes one autographed by Eva Schloss, keepsakes that i got from London when i went there when i turned 16 and my bloodtest sheet that i have to give to my doctor. The rest i shred and recycle. I always ask my bank to not send me something physically, unless it's my new card and i ask them to destroy the old one. Everything else is digitized, including my school stationary, old photos and even books.

Re: photos. KNOW THE DIFFERENCE between crap snapshots and images of family and/or historical value! Images you throw away might be important to your city or state, or for government or military service. Ask museums if they want donations. Ask family if they want them. Photographs used to be art, so don't just pitch them!

There is also KZfaq time clutter, all these minimalists that repeat themselves excessively to tell you in 30' what they could tell you in 5'. You also have good content, but too cluttered with unimportant detail.
