As a Fellow shallow drafter I 100% approve this message. Florida is a very dog friendly state, especially in the Keys. Good job avoiding Miss Cleo. The cards may not lie, but you will see your wallet a little lighter in the future. Another good one man. Still super impressed you are producing these gems on you Galaxy S20! You aren't messing around at all buddy! I'm planting a flower bed for my wife this week and then I hope to catch a few fish. Thanks for all the hours of entertainment our beloved Shanty boat Captain!!! 😎🤙

A couple of years ago a big one ton pickup truck was going westbound, crossed 98, and slammed head on into the big pine tree right in front of the psychic reader's house. I always wondered if they saw that coming. LOL!! I have caught several redfish around that dock you stopped at. Great fishing all along where you were on this day.

Please make sure you eventually rinse all that salt spray off of all your stuff Brother, it will prolong eventual corrosion. I'm glad you make it to sunny Florida... I lived on the hook before and as we wrote about earlier, about ridged or inflatable dingys, I had a 14" kayak that was super stable, and easy to deploy, and stow. Then I squirled away enough to but a 14' aluminum high wall boat. Being near Pensacola military base can be loud at times. Safe travels.

No worries, you're in the free state of Florida. I was so hoping youd take the ICW on the east coast. Youd find more places to stop on shorelines. The gulf coast is more residential so more private shorelines. Just look out for the pirates here, theyre disguised in suit and ties. Yep, our dogs like the nasty stuff. The nose knows. You're a brave man. Good luck and enjoy our beautiful paradise Florida.

I remember Destin. Back in the 90's, we did the intercoastal waterway and offshore from Houston, TX to the Florida Keys. We were living aboard our 36' S2 sloop with a 6' draft and 50' mast. We couldn't take the route you took through the Narrows and then under the bridge to the cut into the bay at Destin. Our mast was too tall for us to fit under the bridge; so, we went out in the Gulf. And then coming in to the bay at Destin, we plowed through sand. After spending the night anchored in the bay, the wind was favorable so that we raised sails and the boat healed over and we went out the cut without dragging the keel through the sand. Seeing your video brings back lots of fun memories.

That's so funny what you said about solitude and the bad weather I have been to the beach in Miami-Dade county on a windy wet day and it was like a deserted island also for 17 years I lived on Biscayne Bay and oftentimes during the weekdays I could go out and have the whole Bay to myself except occasionally people would go down the IC W but the rest of the Bay was mine which was such a great feeling because you could look around 360° and be surrounded by buildings and a couple million people but nobody was out in the Bay at least on weekdays. Check out some of the other boats that are tied up there's a particular way to tie off when you're in a tidal situation. Basically you tie from the front of the boat to the cleat that's near the rear and another rope from the rear of the boat to the cleat that's near the front. By having that much slack and the ropes crossing like that it'll allow it to go up and down with the tide. Some people add an additional third role that they tie off loosely to either the front for the rear to keep the boat from drifting away from dock. I'm sure the way you're doing it is fine too but I just thought maybe take a look at some of the other boats you'll probably see what I'm talking about.

For me any day on the water is a good day. Honestly Brenton,I could live on a vessel such as yours and be quite content though I would want Starlink or something similar. I watched your other Vlog this morning and I agree with everything you talked about. The American people are being fleeced and driven into what I would say is an Oligarchy at the moment with a dictatorship on the horizon. Greed is rampant and evil is winning. The more horrible thing is that everyone seems to be just going along with it making it impossible to actually do anything about it. Everyone is just passing the buck down the line and our society is or has become less trusting,less caring,more hateful and spiteful and especially more angry. There are exceptions but they have become far and few inbetween. We can do better if we would just stand as one but we know that will never happen. Those are just my musings as a 58yo. I'm not bitter at all but I see the writing on the wall. Watching your videos makes me want to sail away... Keep on being you Brenton,you are shining brightly.

Does your navigation software indicate where you can and cannot beach the boat? Public or private lands? Or anchor locations?
@backwatersandbackroads
@backwatersandbackroads 2 ай бұрын
It doesn't. People do add anchorages, which helps.

Enjoying each and every one of your Great Loop videos this year Brenton. While you are much farther ahead on the journey, curious, is this point (Destin) that you head north from here?

Two questions please, do you have power tilt/trim and would a pontoon or tritoon draft more than you?
@backwatersandbackroads
@backwatersandbackroads 27 күн бұрын
Howdy. Yes, power trim and tilt. I'd say a pontoon drafts roughly the same....maybe a few inches more if at all

How often do you have to do your oil changes and are you able to do the gearbox oil? Thanks
@backwatersandbackroads

I change the oil with a pimp out. Unfortunately, there's no way to change thenlower unit oil without the boat being out of the water

Definitely do a video on the gearbox oil when you change that when you're home, that would be interesting to see how that oil holds up. Thanks

What's the draft limit for the Shallow Drafter's group? I've got 60 centimetres or 1.9 feet.

That's a good question. I don't think I'll be going back to Florida for a while. There are some beautiful places, don't get me wrong (some you'll see here soon) buy overall, it's just a very crowded place
