I watched at least 6 videos trying to obtain the information you provided. So, thanks. I have a question: are horses ever opposite footed? Meaning, in a gallop, pretty much every horse I’ve seen has the left leg hit before the right on back and front. Do they ever do it differently?

Yes they also can do it the other way around. If you look up "flying changes" you can see them change between left and right "sided" gallop

@@ronja9802 Okay… so in a horse race do the jockeys order it or do the horses do it on their own?

@@minnesotajack1Do you mean if they order the horses which sided gallop to go? I dont think so but I dont know. Also I have to say that I might have told you something wrong. Im from Germany and here we only distinct between three main gaits. Canter and gallop are trated as the same gait. So it could be that those flying changes are actually only done in canter and not gallop, I need to look that up. Sorry if I confused you.

Watched this one with my pony-riding 6 year old to study the different gaits’ terms, footwork, and horse speeds. She immediately noticed and remarked to me, “She’s not even wearing a helmet!”
