Yes, you can use it without that top finder (it's only for composing anyway), what you need for focussing is the Ground Glass frame from the Flexbody, it's the same, used to see the image, and focus, PS, it has slots in it, so you can use ALL the prism and hood finders on it, to reduce glare and have the image the right way round.

Nice story and glad to hear that it all worked out. I’ve been thinking about getting an SWC as well and have been looking at them on EBay.
