If the Eastern Orthodox Churches would return to the True Church we would welcome them back with open arms. And they could keep their beautiful liturgies. The Copts of Egypt recently returned and were welcomed. Take heart---Our Lady of Fatima said that one day Russia would be converted. If the Russians convert perhaps the Greeks, Serbs, and other Orthodox would also.

First, they would have to check up their orthodoxy on dissolubility of marriage, and get free of the grip the secular powers have over the orthodox churches.

Perhaps because, like the bishops determined, simply saying "come back to us" didn't lead to any protestants actually coming back to the church. Meanwhile, I'm a convert to Catholicism largely because of the New Evangelization that Traditionalists love to hate so much.

Ecumenism is supported by Cathokics who don't really believe in the Catholic Church. Jesus commanded the apostles to evangelize, not to ecumenize.

George Penton ecumenical discussions brought me into the Catholic Church. Animosity and treating Protestants like Samaritans is NOT what Christ desires.

@Alex Carlson I studied the work of Martin Luther and he had some very valid points and criticisms however I cannot agree with his solution. There will always be corruption in the Church just as there was among the twelve. I fear the Catholic Church has fell after the Second Vatican Counsel and we are living in the the time spoken of by Our Lady of Fatima.

Nick, I think you got something confused. It was not Luther, but his right hand man Philip Melancthon, who wrote to his dying mother and told her to stay Catholic. "Our religion is better to live by but their religion is better to die by." Luther stayed obstinate to the end and at least two saints, one of them Padre Pio, say that he is in Hell.

And just let half of Christendom fall into fires of Hell? Because of a misunderstanding? No. We need to talk with them. Reason with them. Help them to see the theological errors of the so-called Reformation. Yes, they must ultimately be the ones to make the change, but we can certainly do some things to aid them in that journey. +God bless+

+Alejandro Murguia The first and foremost doctrinal obstacle is the "only we..." discourse and the assurance about one's own righteousness and triumph... This is certainly not the doctrine that will save you. Also, you must be ignorant of the fact that the reason why the Catholic Church changed its image and discourse after Vatican II is because finally Protestant criticism was humbly and constructively admitted, and Protestants such as Cardinal Newman contributed to the regeneration of the Church's identity. Otherwise, today you would still be hearing Mass in latin, be considered as a second zone individual because you are a lay person, and identify the Church with the visible power institution. All these aspects have been radically revised in the CCC, Lumen Gentium, and other Catholic documents -- thanks to the ideas of the Reformation.

I also winced when hearing the comment at 12:18. However, the people are meant to be united under God. We won't get anywhere towards meeting that goal if the Church just shuts out atheists, agnostics, Buddhists, Protestants, and otheres that vary in their creeds.

John Kay, the Church never shut any of those people out. She always welcomed them with open arms when they converted. "Unless you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter the kingdom of God ", said Jesus.

It was not because vatican 2 they lost their faith it was modern liberalism.

​@@cruznature7545My friend this liberalism is in fact the spirit of V II. Vatican II has many inaccuracies and ambiguous statements that were used on purpose to further a progressive agenda. So yes it was the effects of v II implementation that in fact led to the loss of faith.

I assume from your profound certainty on Sacred Scripture you must have earned a doctorate in Sacred Scripture and the Early Church. Where did you obtain your education? Michael, you are right, Jesus is the only way, and interfaith worship services are indeed an abomination, but since Jesus is the only way, and since Jesus founded the Catholic Church, that makes the Catholic way the only way. I recommend you read Pope Pius XI's excellent encyclical Mortalium Animos. I recommend it to all.
