Depending on gearing and what mine does loaded I’d assume 8-12 mpg on the high side

I was surprised today. I got 11 mpg in the mountains. Might be the way I was driving or maybe there was no wind today, but I was getting 7-8 yesterday going against the wind. That sucked.

Instead of running the 5500s GCWR, we ran the 5500s GVWR of 19,500 plus the Trailers GVWR of 30,000 to cover 49,500.

I believe that air ride 5th wheel will make a huge difference. I talked to a guy who said he had a air ride 5th wheel, suspension and trailer and he said that it seemed to be to much air as the truck would float all over the road.

No I don’t have the interior video yet but 1 is coming. As for max weight, loading will be whatever the trailer is rated at, pulling will be what the max tow capacity on the truck is. My trailer is rated at 30k and weighs about 10k so I can load 20k without going over my rating

I saw another video of a hotshot driver with a truck similar to yours. He said he gets about 8 mpg. So my question is why not go with a used semi. You pay less for the truck. You've got more room especially in the sleeper and you get similar fuel mileage but you can carry more weight and make more money.

Honestly, never measured it. I’d probably say somewhere in the 70’ range at least.

It’s a 2008 and The rear i believe is Dana 80 with 410 ratio it has a hauler bed with a gooseneck ball now. Thanks for getting back to me

Nice man. That low ratio will help big time on fuel. I’d start with that truck first and honestly, I think that 1 is the best bet of nothing else is wrong with it.

Gas generator was already on hand and the diesel 1 is much more expensive.

I did 8.5-9.5 fully loaded with 20k lbs on the trailer so not too bad in my opinion

No- especially if you were doing 65+ mph. Have you found the sweet spot for mpg? Rpm and speed loaded, that gets the best mpg.

Your own authority means all the money is yours... Also means all the paperwork, taxes, fees, insurance, bullshit from DOT and every asshole on the road... That and more are yours as well. And don’t forget about ALL the liabilities should anything every go wrong. Not a bad thing if your business minded person, but for a small fee of usually around 10-25% of a load, you can run under someone else’s numbers and focus on driving and maybe owning another business online or back home. Maybe start a KZfaq channel. Being that I have my own authority, the paperwork, finding loads, and book keeping alone takes up a good few hours of my time every week. It puts a lot of strain on my other business. If I could do it again, I’d probably try to find someone to lease under, but the issue there is actually finding someone to hire someone with zero experience, at least in my case.

@@DreamInspired I agree on that, if its after the fact we should be able to to demand what we want and get it but it doednt always work that way. If he says no then what, the loads on your trailer, they know you wont drop it off and waste your time. But I'm glad you got it.

I’m not an expert on auto hauling as I’m strictly in freight, but the basics are business license, EIN and business bank accounts. After that, you’ll need to figure out if you’re going to run over or under 26k lbs. if over, you’ll need a CDL, IFTA and IRP. Then you’ll have to figure out if you’re going to have your own authority or lease on under someone else. If you’re doing your own, you’ll need DOT and MC numbers thru FMCSA and you’ll need to meet all of their requirements.

I didnt like them that much, but i gave the benefit of the dout and anything is better then factory chorme.They didnt fit. 4in too short. Oh well, thought that matters. We sold them for what we got them for. No gain no loss in the end. The guy that bought them needed them as his 1 side was bent badly.

Just got back out so not sure yet. I usually get 10k a month

My 10k a month usually includes a week and a half off. I do about 700 +/- miles a day when I drive. I’ll let you know how many miles I clear later this week.

It’s a 5th wheel, no citation.still a good idea to use them but only required on a gooseneck ball hitch. Just asked the Texas State Trooper to look it up for me and this is what he said.
