Stages of love: 1) connection 2) passion 3) gripping love 4) engulfing love 5) enslaving love 6) ibadah - worship Signs of Love (ibadah): 1) you endure hardship with the beloved. 2) you belittle your efforts for the beloved. (But not in the sense that you think it's not worth to do them). 3) you never prefer anything over the beloved. Also, If they are well, you are well. 4) you crave privacy with the beloved. Also, you find comfort with the beloved. 5) you love the speech of the beloved. 6) you always remember your beloved. 7) you are protective over the limits of the beloved. 8) you are upset to miss out on the opportunity to draw closer to the beloved. 9) you are desperate to meet the beloved. 10) you practically prove your love. How to draw close to Allah: 1) Recognize Allah's Beauty 2) Recognize His favors/kindness to you 3) Recognize His inherent worth

The bread example made me reflect a lot. That single example is enough to know that like that simple gesture from everyday life, there are many others that we don't even pay attention to but we should be endlessly grateful to Allah swt. And it reminds me of the verse of the Holy Qur'an: Ar-Rahmaan (55:23) فَبِاَىِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

وَكُلُّهُمْ ءَاتِيهِ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ فَرْدًا ¤ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ سَيَجْعَلُ لَهُمُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وُدًّۭا💙 And each of them will return to Him on the Day of Judgment all alone. ¤ As for those who believe and do good, the Most Compassionate will certainly bless them with genuine love.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ حُبَّكَ، وَحُبَّ مَنْ يُحِبُّكَ، وَ حُبَّ عَمَلٍ يُّقَرِّبُ اِلى حُبِّكَ “O Allah, I ask You for Your love and the love of those who love You and love of the deeds which will bring me closer to Your love. Allāhumma innī as’aluka ḥubbaka wa ḥubba man yuḥibbuka wal-`amalalladhī yuballighunī ḥubbak. Allāhummaj`al ḥubbak اللهم اني اَسْأَلُكَ لَذَّةَ النَّظَرِ إِلَى وَجْهِكَ وَالشَّوْقَ إِلَى لِقَائِكَ فِي غَيْرِ ضَرَّاءَ مُضِرَّةٍ، وَلا فِتْنَةٍ مُضلَّةٍ. I ask You for the sweetness of looking upon Your face and a longing to meet You in a manner that does not entail a calamity that will bring about harm or a trial that will cause deviation.

Duas for seeking the love of Allah اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ حُبَّكَ، وَحُبَّ مَنْ يُحِبُّكَ، وَالعَمَلَ الَّذِي يُبَلِّغُنِي حُبَّكَ، اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ حُبَّكَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ نَفْسِي وَأَهْلِي، وَمِنَ المَاءِ البَارِدِ “O Allah, I ask You for Your love and the love of those who love You and love of the action which will make me reach Your love. O Allah make Your love more beloved to me than myself, my family and cold water” 1 Allāhumma innī as’aluka ḥubbaka wa ḥubba man yuḥibbuka wal-`amalalladhī yuballighunī ḥubbak. Allāhummaj`al ḥubbaka aḥabba ilaiyya min nafsī, wa ahlī wa minal-mā’il-bārid اللَّهُمَّ ارْزُقْنِي حُبَّكَ وَحُبَّ مَنْ يَنْفَعُنِي حُبُّهُ عِنْدَكَ، اللَّهُمَّ مَا رَزَقْتَنِي مِمَّا أُحِبُّ فَاجْعَلْهُ قُوَّةً لِي فِيمَا تُحِبُّ، اللَّهُمَّ وَمَا زَوَيْتَ عَنِّي مِمَّا أُحِبُّ فَاجْعَلْهُ فَرَاغًا لِي فِيمَا تُحِبُّ “O Allah, provide me with Your love and the love of those whose love will benefit me with You. O Allah, that which you have provided me of that which I love, then make it strength for me in that which you love. O Allah, that which you have removed of what I love, then make it a free space for me for that which you love.” 2 Allāhummarzuqnī ḥubbuka, wa ḥubba man yanfa`unī ḥubbuhū `indak. Allāhumma mā razaqtanī mimmā uḥibbu faj`alhu quwwatan lī fīmā tuḥibb. Allāhumma wa mā zawaita `annī mimmā uḥibbu faj`alhu farāghan lī fīmā tuḥibb اللهُمَّ اجْعَلْ حُبَّكَ أَحَبَّ الْأَشْيَاءِ إِلَيَّ وَاجْعَلْ خَوْفَكَ أَخْوَفَ الْأَشْيَاءِ إِلَيَّ وَاقْطَعْ عَنِّي حَاجَاتِ الدُّنْيَا بِالشَّوْقِ إِلَى لِقَائِكَ وَإِذَا أَقْرَرْتَ أَعْيُنَ أَهْلِ الدُّنْيَا مِنْ دُنْيَاهُمْ فَأَقِرَّ عَيْنِي مِنْ عِبَادَتِكَ “O Allah, make your love the most beloved of things to me, and your fear the most fearful of things to me and sever for me the needs of the dunya by longing for meeting You and when You give delight to the eyes of the people of the world in their dunya, then give my eye delight in your worship” 3 وَأَسْأَلُكَ لَذَّةَ النَّظَرِ إِلَى وَجْهِكَ وَالشَّوْقَ إِلَى لِقَائِكَ فِي غَيْرِ ضَرَّاءَ مُضِرَّةٍ، وَلا فِتْنَةٍ مُضلَّةٍ. As Sheikh Ali explains the processes of bread and shares the ayats for us to reflect, while pondering upon those ayats similar ayats came to my mind. If Allah willed He would have made the water bitter....khalas nothing would ever taste good nd sweet. ٱلْمَآءَ ٱلَّذِى تَشْرَبُونَ○ And have you seen the water that you drink? ءَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ○ Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down? لَوْ نَشَآءُ جَعَلْنَـٰهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ○ If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful? SubhanAllah فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
