I recall back in the mid 90s doing stuff like this with console games. Back then the only way to save was to get a code showing your status. I probably spent more time working on that then playing the game. For example. In the Saga Jerasic Park game I could pick what level I wanted and give myself more ammo etc. I found my notes on that game a few years ago.
