An instructional video on how what depth is and where one should be to have relatively correct depth for Ice Hockey Goal tending. This video covers some of the land marks we use, how to play certain plays and what are some of the keys to having proper depth for plays.
It is labeled Part #1 of 2 because it pairs very much with Gap Control. Both are forms of depth but one is built on the other and gap control factors into our final depth during real plays. Think of Depth in this video as more Starting or Static Depth Control. You might use this as you prepare for a play or as you move about following the puck while there is no threat of a shot or play.
Where as Gap Control (Part #2) is more about dynamic or moving depth as what one gets during actual play. We vary the depth based not only on the first rules of Depth control but also on the players positions, speeds, and possible passing plays.
