EP 9 - Dhankar to Pin Valley | Dhankar monastery, | Pin Valley, Spiti Tour

This is a 15 episode series of Spiti tours, We started this tour on 22ndJune 2021 from Shimla and went via Kinnaur and Spiti to Manali. During this journey we covered many popular destinations of Spiti valley and some unexplored beautiful destinations.

Below are the places which we have covered on our 7th day of the Spiti Tour, Hope you will enjoy this episode. Date of Journey - 1st July 2021.
Dhankar Monastery - Built on a cliff, one of the oldest monasteries in Spiti valley,
No mobile network of any operators, sometimes you are on the roof of any home in the village, you might get a BSNL network, that goes. Jio is working on building a tower there.
Hotel Dhankar Heights - We visited the nearby hotel to the monastery, Room rate is Rs 1500 double occupancy
Lalung Monastery - This is part of Dhankar monastery, located at a distance, we did darshan of Guru Padmasambhava along with many deities.
8 km from Lalung - We stopped at a bridge built across Lingti River, where we saw a beautiful waterfall at Lingti Village.
Dolma Dhaba - Our driver told us from Lalung to Pin Valley, you have only one food eatery where we stopped) We had maggie there. I spoke to the owner, she told me that they generally don’t open this Dhaba on regular basis. Most of the time they are in their fields.
Mud Village - We stayed at Pin Parvati Hotel - Ph. 9418571167, 8219931756. He cooked us below items
Local Pizza made of wheat Base & Stuffing of Tomato, Capsicum, Onion with cheese.
Shunali - Uniqe Sweet dish which is made of wheat with garlic.
There is only 1 Himachal Roadways bus operates Kaza to Mud Village - 50 km. Evening 4 pm from Kaza which reaches at 6 pm in Mud village. This same bus goes back to Kaza in morning at 6 am.

An unusual and unseen beauty of high reaches of Himachal Pradesh for which it is generally known for visits to Shimla or Kulu Manali or Rohtang etc. But thanks to the great passion of Bali ji that we are seeing unexplored or unseen part of HP. One will appreciate the strenuous efforts required to travel to such remote areas and to know the culture and cuisines of people there. Great punjabi spirits of Baliji needs accolade for one more wonderful visit.

with only one dhaba to eat and one small hotel to stay at such places, people do not think otherwise. Such places are not meant for family with kids.

@@karan20078 If people will start going there, no. of hotels and home stays will increase, Connectivity of the region will also increase automatically. Many popular hill stations of present time like Shimla, Manali, Nainital etc. were also like this once upon a time. So it all depends on us : The Tourists, But what you've said is can't denied completely because adverse climate conditions and decreased level of O2 is making this place a less family friendly and more vulnerable to kids and elder people. But my comment was not restricted to Himachal Pradesh or Spiti, I was saying about India as a whole and there are many places in many states which despite having easy accessibility and a great tourist potential are alienated from outside people (If you are regular viewer of Harishji then you know it i guess). Emergence of those kind of places as a tourist destinations will make difference in many lives of the local people there and gradually India will achieve its true Tourist Potential. 🙏🏻

Dhankar cliffs and Pin valley road trip are the best scenic part in Spiti. I cannot understand why most of the vloggers skip it. You did a great job to explore it. I visited in oct 2016 and still i miss the place.

Since long, I wanted to comment. Your vlogs are always flawless. Straight to the content, you always try to show us the maximum. Modest, as you are. We enjoy the local cuisine which you try to explain to us. A commendable job of travelling to these far off, deep locales of our country. At the end we feel, we have travelled too little.

Sir: I have driven on these roads about 10 years back and at that time had to go through the Maling nightmare with threats of rocks falling anytime. Magnificent program. Especially the short discussion with the lady about the customs. Greatly enjoyed. Her diction and articulation are worth listening to several times and your attentive listening and interjections are quite marvellous. The people in these districts are quite remarkable. Many thanks. Beautiful .Even this word cannot describe beauty of Pin valley. I was waiting for this valley episode. Show morning views in next episode. View of confluence of Spiti and Pin river from Dhankar monastery are majestic and literally cast a spell up on you. We visited these places in Aug 2018. I was overwhelmed by emotions when I entered in Dhankar monastery . We had lunch in same hotel at monastery and tea in evening at the same place in Pin valley where you have diner in night. evening views in Pin valley are also stunning. Keep it up Harishji.

I visited dhankar in 2017 we were allowed in prayer room. There were no restriction at that time.. theres a dead goat statue on top of stairs at the entrance of temple.. we visited when it was raw and no one knew abt it, its nice to see same place being visited and recognised…
