Welcome back to Back 2 Basics Golf’s ten-part drill series. In this episode, we are teaching you how to do the Yardstick Drill. In this drill, you will need a yardstick, a golf ball and your favorite putting stick. You’re going to want to place your yardstick at or near the edge of the cup, then place your golf ball at the opposite end of the yardstick. Now you’re going to want to stroke putts while keeping the ball rolling on the yardstick or ruler the whole way towards the cup.
The yardstick drill is intended to help you with three-footer putts, but you can place the golf ball at any spot on the yardstick or ruler to practice hitting shorter or longer putts. The key here with this drill is to help return the putter face back to square and practice your path when putting.
Now that you learn the basics of this drill, it’s time to get out there and practice!
