In episode 2 of our Modern Kitchen Renovation series we will continue building our existing conditions Revit model using the LIDAR scans we created with our phone. We'll add Revit Doors, Revit Windows, and Revit ceilings and learn some interesting things about modeling those.
I think you will have some fun watching me attempt to model this really wacky ceiling design ...

Good decision to leave in the issues you encounter and subsequently solve - way more useful than a slick edited version with all the tricky bits chopped out. As an occasional dabbler who spends as much time in the help as actually drafting it's reassuring to know even the gurus such as yourself still hit snags - even if you do resolve them in what seems a few blinks of the eye!

Cheers! Thanks for the comment! Yeah, even us “gurus” hit the wall from time to time … you aren’t really using Revit unless you’re breaking something! ;)

I am really digging this series. I am currently modeling a house based off of a point cloud and am really stoked to see some content that speaks to that process. Thanks!

Not convinced yet that this is a good way to go. Taking out the measure tape and taking pictures is probably faster and more acurate. Although im a big fan of inovation.

It does take getting used to, but nothing beats a clean and complete scan. Knowing your model is 100% reflective of reality is a huge win for renovation jobs. Also it can be awesome to perfectly align a VR experience to the real space as well, you get the haptic experience as well as visual.

@@TheRevitKid I like the video but i get nervous if the measurements are not accurate. No offense love your videos and openess in sharing knowledge.
@TheRevitKid
@TheRevitKid 2 жыл бұрын
@@amd3529 I get that. But how many “check” measurements would it take before you trust the instrument is just as accurate as your tape measure?

Hi, great series! From my part, is not an issue how long it gets, when you doubt in cutting parts of the process. I assume that is not a big issue to find the providers or brands families (like for windows families) and its ok to use generic personal optimized ones?
@TheRevitKid
@TheRevitKid 2 жыл бұрын
Sure, it's okay for using generic... For example, I use these same picture windows whether I am specifying marvin or anderson. Just size them TO the manufacturers sizes if that 's the goal. Not to say you can't use manufacturers windows... some are great!
