The depth of XiangLiu and XiaoYao's relationship is heartbreaking. With her heart she desires to be with XiangLiu for the rest of her life, but her mind tells her to be with TushanJing. She uses the relationship of Skinny and Tian'Er as a reference of someone choosing what is right for themselves and letting time decide if they can be together without regrets. However, XiaoYao wonders if she loses the person she trully loves she'll be able to forget that person... If time can make love grow, can time also vanish with the love feelings she has for XiangLiu? It's so freaking sad when she realizes her true feelings! 😢 Also, XiangLiu was NEVER the secondary lead, he's the main. People should stop believing that the main couple is the main couple because they're endgame. XiangLiu's role has the same importance as XiaoYao's, they're the core of this story.

YaoLiu in red dress. It’s like their marriage. XY is sitting on the seashore looking at the sea like expecting something but in the end there’s nothing. Too bad XL used his power as illusion to cover his presence so she’s not able to see him. Meanwhile XL is watching her while opening her gift. The mermaid inside put one hand on her heart and extends the other like saying, "Please take me with you, as we are connected by our hearts." He raises his hand as if he wants to reach her as well, but seems discouraged. We can see and feel his pain and sadness delivered well by Tan Jianci’s performance.

Это не просто обязанности. С этими солдатами они многие годы был в боях плечом к плечу. Он как то сказал,что он помнит каждого павшего воина и каждого живого солдата ,и все они у него в сердце. Он не может их бросить. Это будет уже не Сянлю. Бросив их он предаст себя. Тем более Что Яо все твердит ,что любит Лиса и хочет провести с ним жизнь,но как видно нам со стороны она любит змея,но даже под гипнозом боится это признать

We can't simply throw everything just for being with the person we love without caring anything else. We have a lot of connections in this life: ideal, gratitude, responsibilities, loyalty, faithfulness... But I think Xiang Liu had given Xiao Tao everything he could already (in silence, in order not to let her feel she owns him), no regrets no pity. Xiang Liu decided to let go because he knows clearly he can't give XY the peaceful life she dreams of. Love doesn't mean selfishness,. And to someone, sometimes it's even noble that we just hope the person we love can live in peace and happiness

Ha, honestly I think XY's mother was more courageous than her daughter, she choose her lover till the last moment, she choose to fight for her land but dies with the one she loves. She was true to herself and loyal to her heart and her love. XY is completely the opposite, she's too weak, annoying indecisive and a horrible liar. I honestly pity those 4 men, she's been toying with them, she has ruined them.

XiaoYao is afraid of being left behind by those she holds dear, because every single person she loved left her on her own. She's well aware that XiangLiu's destine is sealed, so she avoids letting him into her heart, however she fails. She tries to persuade him to let go of his fate, but he denies her a couple of times. XiaoYao's mother was a die-hard nationalist, while XiaoYao has only herself to rely on. She would bravely stand against her family to fight for her lover, but she would not stand against her family for someone who doesn't put her first and will leave her for a war with no chance of victory.

@@Gigibonz the funny thing is that she would leave everything behind if XiangLiu had put her first and not the Resistence Army. XiaoYao is willing to create a dependence on her future husband instead of on her family and personal dreams, this is why she looks for mutual commitment in the person she wants to take as a husband. This story is split in 3 volumes: 1- the life in the small village at the fronteer; 2- the life in the realm; e, 3- the chosen destiny. In the first volume, XiaoYao makes acquaintance with XiangLiu. She hids her identity, so in this way she can create a genuine friendship with him, without interests. In the second volume, XiaoYao's real identity comes to light and she avoids XiangLiu. This is because she knows he's a mercenary and he could use her as a way to get what he wants for his godfather's cause. But with his alter-ego FangFeng Bei he was able to maintain a friendship with XiaoYao and he gets to know more about her, making him believe that he isn't good enough to be her endgame partner, while XiaoYao starts to consider him as a life partner if he changes his priorities. Then, in the last volume, XiangLiu keeps pushing XiaoYao away while she keeps coming towards him. XiangLiu even lies to her so she would hate him and go to Tushan Jing instead. XiangLiu was the only male character that XiaoYao considered worth of her giving the first steps towards him, but he loved her too soon and she loved him too late. They were never openly honest about their feelings for each other, however their love was the strongest. The way he made her suffer was equal to the pain she inflicted on him. They deserved better, but the author is a sadist and wouldn't repeat XiaoYao's parents story in this sequel. 💔

@@himononna eso lo pensé, cuando el entro en su cabeza ella dijo que solo se casaría con la identidad que ella creo de tushan jing no con tushan jing lo cual indica que quiere alguien que la quiera y no tenga compromiso con otras personas. EN CAMBIO. Tushan jing si los tiene y por lo visto adelante es un final traigico, xiang liu tambien sera tragico porque el no puede dejar a la deriva a sus hombres , simplemente no puede hacerlo es algo ya de honor supongo por eso siento que la quiere proteger haciendo que ella lo odie. SE que es mucho pedir pero sera lo mejor si de alguna forma le cuenta de sus emociones a ella solo para que sepa que siempre la amo

What a profound question. This series has touched raw emotions in me. X.L his root core problem is not being loved that he believes he's not worthy of love. X her core issue is abandonment I feel the Mermaids is her heartfelt way of sharing her intimate emotions she has for him. They both miss so many opportunities that their love is tragic. Even though they both love unconditionally because of their core belief of themselves the misunderstanding keep them apart.

The pearl is her last confession to him. In the novel, he explains the significance of the merman clam. That that the only person a merman will bring to his clam is his only mate in its lifetime. Hence, the mermaid holding her heart and the merman clam.
