The Goblins would have had terrain superiority in that battle. They favor mountains, same as the dwarves, but they are 5 units!

Ralf Schemmann ah, but they are not in the mountain terrain... they are still in the mountain pass, and that doesn't count ... right ?

He expalins it: the goblins don't count as being in mountains from their mustering point apparently.

The defining terrain is always the one of the region that the battle is fought over. In this case that is the region the dwarves are standing in. The mountain pass doesn't have a terrain, but that doesn't matter, since no battle can ever take place there. See page 26 of the rules: "At the beginning of a combat, players must check the terrain type of the region where the combat is taking place, that is, the region where the defender is located."

Ricky Royal I was under the assumption that Goblins in the mountain pass can never have terrain superiority... I have no idea where I got that from !!

I thought that bat card could be very usefull. If you need no leadership/bats and/or the Fellowship has loads of pesky character dice rolled?

Peter Magro Vampirism is the one I should have played... I just like showing off new stuff :) Next time it will be the bats for sure...

Peter Magro vampire-like ... doh! (I think I call it that a couple of times in the video by mistake...)

It makes sense to save the bats for attacking the army in the fortification, as he will only hit on 6 so manoeuvre abilities are hard to trigger reliably. Vampir-like is easier to fire as any hit will do. So it isn't wasted, plus he got to show us the goblin ability. :)
