Sarah and Keelan Travels - Offroad Caravanning Aus

G'day guys,
We left Perth after making our final preparations for the big lap. First stop was Cervantes on Australia's Coral Coast region. We did a bit of beach fishing, Experienced our first storm in the van and explored the Pinnacles Desert. Hope you enjoy.

Arrrrggghhh!!! I'm INSANELY jealous. We did our lap in 2013 - 14. 51 weeks. The day we got back, I could have turned around the next day and done it all over again. Loved every single minute of it. Hope you will too. I know you'll drive safe but never ever trust the other road muppets. They really are all out to get you. Oh, and I've got two more words for you Kimmie....mudguard washers. That's why they make 'em.

hahah we are loving it on the road! life is good when you only problem is drinking to many beers at night haha yep, already had a few distracted drivers.. we only cruise anyways! dam had no idea about them washers! going to mitre 10 in Carnarvon so hopefully get some there! thanks for the support mate!

Your a good couple giving it a go. You should be proud. Catch fish is a lot of fun. I was asked once to come and fish with Jack Dennis and Harrison Ford. Out fished in a comp the head of fishery wildlife Tassie on a wine cask fly. And sent 20 blokes to catch a 5kg fibreglass trout while laying in a warm bed. Thanks for your videos. Russell

WELL DONE GUYS. Straight up, first day of your big trip you have produced a very neat video. love the pinnacle subject twist. maybe a blade of Aluminium across the rubber to spread the clamping force. GVM and CGVM is a hot topic. maybe a breakdown of how you faired with theses weights. Cam at Wild Touring dragged his fridge out of his ute and put it into the van. as the Utes GVM was over but not the GCVM limit. such a mine field of compliance. Well Done. I'm hooked already. A shame the fish isn't.

Cheers mate! They are beautiful! We are currently okay but when we first set off we where 80kg over fully loaded! I’ll look at explaining it in a mid week episode Haha fish don’t like salami mate! Haha squid May of been a better option

Hey guys great vid. Hope you are enjoying the start of your lap. If I can suggest one thing with your mudflaps, it would be to put a piece of flat aluminium across the top of each to put even pressure across the rubber rather than just the Tec screws. Also go by percentage with lithium not volts. The volts will always read about 13.2 while batteries discharge. Catch you guys next vid.

Hey k Yeah bloody mudflaps have been repaired and now the welds on the hitch receiver has seen better days. They are on there last legs before getting a proper set! Was a learning curve for sure thanks for the advice defs will do that if I plan on making another set! Since hitting the road I have installed a smart shunt to monitor state of charge of the battery’s, it’s soo good seeing percentage SOC and solar! Thanks k

Yeah you’re on the road, good work! I can see you’ve been learning how to do transition camera work which looks great, not sure who to complement there,.... but I reckon it’s Keelan doing the editing, lol!! Well done again guys,..... Saturday mornings are a favorite time of the week for me so I can watch your weekly installment of your travels! 9 more days for us and we’re off to Arnhem Land and I can’t wait!

Maybe bigger washers on the rubber side so they don’t tear out would help, or another pice of steel with the rubber sandwiched between.

That would work! A lot of people have suggested metal strip which would work also

Thank for video. Fishing tip. Learn to tie a tee knot. Then look at hey skipper, improved tee knot rig KZfaq. Remember berley up. Your rock flaps. Put a thin wide plate strip. It help putting bend down more and stiffness rubber. If you buy mud flaps for car you see it come with a metal plate.

Thanks rusty, I’ve just learnt how to tie braid knots, I’ll have a look at a tee Knott! The rock tamers are just about cactus mate, should of used thicker steal on the hitch receiver cut out. So it’s on it’s lasts legs, made it out to false entrance and back but them corrugation rattled the hell out of it

Yes I could see. Also add a little brace. But you should be proud you gave it a go. Keep refining. I have just got a star picket and tube. Made surf rod holders. But going to use for pegs for guy wire for wind generator. Also check out soda stream co2 bottle and adaptor.

Also check out lock your hubs, high lift Jack. I have made a pinned handle extension. Also use to drive in ground for 25 watt oz trail light.

Hi Malcolm, we have been in a caravan park a total of 3 nights so far and almost been 4 weeks on the road! We wanted to at Cervantes just to settle in and re pack stuff
