Awesome journey to date guys. We are really enjoying the content and honesty. We will have the same ‘rig’ as you in November and can’t wait to get out there. A couple of things for future content would be weights (incl. your set off weights to where you are now 3+ months on the road, what have you got rid of you thought you needed), the car set up (eg wiring / positioning for dashcam/reversing camera, archies back seat set up, what do carry in the tray to manage weights), your routine on arrival to unhitching)… Keep up the great work. Travel well. Stay safe.

Thanks so much for the feedback Keith. We are actually working on a weights video now, which we'll release in the next few weeks. Next week we should have a hitching/unhitching video (we are recording it now) then we definitely want to do a car set up video and our camping setup in the coming weeks. So lots of content coming!! Thanks for watching and GREAT FEEDBACK!!! We love it!!

Great video and some very good ideas. Did you change out your fridge to a compressor fridge as it looks like the Dometic 214 litre. We have a van on order and have made some changes to it as well. Have you thought about a van skirt to clip on under the van on the awning side to stop the wind from coming under the van as your lovely van looks to be quite high. We found in our previous van that the moisture absorbers from the thrift shops spread around in the cupboards work very well for any moisture. Well lovely to see you having a great time and have safe travels and stay well.
@StaycationOz

Thanks Garry and thanks so much for watching the video!! We have a 3 way fridge, it’s automatic but find it unreliable so we switch the power source each time! We did think about a van skirt, but we pack up and down so often we were worried it wouldn’t get enough use. We haven’t yet had any moisture concerns, but fantastic tip which we will keep in mind!!

Great video and congrats on 1K subs! 🎉 You can definitely be classed as "Pro' now! I'd be interested in knowing a little more about your editing, software and camera gear. I think you are using Adobe? Who does the editing, how long it takes, self-taught or courses, etc. What, if anything would you have done/learnt before you left? I've had several travel blogs for years but keen to take content creation into video and droning. A bit late to the party I know but would like to have some basic knowledge before we head off next year. Cheers Annette

Thanks so much guys!! Next stop 10,000 haha! We might do a video about our video and editing gear, we use Adobe Premier Pro for all our editing and After Effects for video graphics. We share the editing but Hannah does more than I do. Each episode takes a lot of work, probably 10-15 hours worth of editing, depending on how many clips etc, it’s a lot of work! We are just self taught, there’s so many good guides on KZfaq which we’ve watched over time. We work on 2 decent laptops but longer videos and drone footage really slow the process down and premier pro is frustrating at times... wish we had a much more powerful computer but we get by with what we have! Start off by choosing the software you want to use then learn it on KZfaq, we pay for the entire Adobe suite as there’s lots of other apps we use to edit photos and create thumbnails etc, but try look for a membership on special, we pay about $45 a month for total access. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!!!

Hi Hannah, Chris and Archie. My husband and I have been enjoying following your journey, you have a lovely, natural style and great content. We are in Perth and have just ordered a Crusader X Country Trailbreaker and really looking forward to getting it in 13 months or so. We were planning on getting a Ford Ranger Wildtrack and were wondering if you did anything to the rear suspension to support the tow ball weight imposed on the Ranger, eg: air bags, or stiffer rear suspension or a weight distribution device? Enjoy your travels ‘up north’ of WA!
@StaycationOz
@StaycationOz 3 жыл бұрын
Hey guys, thanks so much for the positive feedback! You won’t be disappointed in a crusader, they are lovely vans! On our Wildtrak we haven’t done anything to it besides upgraded to AT tyres! That’s it! On our 15k service I asked Ford to take a good look at the suspension since we tow a heavy van, but they said it all looks good, so very happy! Our tow ball weight ended up being quite a bit lower than expected, around the 250kg mark which was good. Thanks for watching!!!

Thanks so much for watching and the great feedback!! We haven’t found any issues with mould yet, not that we know anyway! Dehumidifier would work but would be a pain to carry around.. I reckon if we did see mould we’d take it to a caravan place to check it out or fix, some moulds can be dangerous!

Hey David. No, we didn’t connect our air con up to go off grid with it. Plus we have AGM batteries. I have heard recommendations that if you do want to connect the air con to solar and batteries, to have it on a totally separate circuit and have a high capacity lithium battery, so you don’t risk losing power elsewhere… Hope that helps

Do you have a dust reduction device in your caravan? Would you recommend it?
@StaycationOz
@StaycationOz 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Teresa. Our caravan does have a dust reduction hatch, but we’ve never actually used it. I think it depends on how much off road caravanning you are planning on doing. We did a bit, but mostly was on road, on beach or on dirt - not too much dust. Our car on the other hand…….. 😂

Hannah & Chris i am super excited to see your travels up the north west, incl. 80 mile beach. no one ever seems to go there so excited to see some amazing drone footage. Two things: 1. now we know your are thrones fans, i think we should have some cheeky quotes in the episodes (low key). 2. where do you get the cheesy music from for the videos, are you self sourcing or does this come with the editing package? (btw the music isn't bad, most of it is well chosen!)
@StaycationOz

We are super excited as well to head up north!! Haha well try to get some hidden GOT lines in! The music we use is a royalty free subscription service where we select from 1000s of different types of music. It’s tricky filtering through and finding suitable music, but we try to match it as best as possible to the footage!

Hi Guys, just found you, wondering if your Oven is Fan Forced, and if not, how does it perform baking a Cake or even cooking a Roast? Cheers!
@StaycationOz
@StaycationOz 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Pro Street! Yes it is a fan forced oven, but the fan only works when connected to 240v. It’s pretty good tbh - I’ve been baking sourdough bread using it which has been turning out ok. I’ve also made Yorkshire Puddings in it on several occasions which rose beautifully (a challenge at the best of times). I do usually put the temperature slightly (20 deg) higher that normal. Not tried a cake or a roast in it. Hannah ☺️
