In this episode I travel to deepest of Wales to visit Drala Jong, the headquarters and retreat centre of the Aro gTér sect of Tibetan Buddhism.
I first interviewed the leaders of the sect, Ngakchang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen, several years ago in an intimate interview in their home during which they recounted the origin of their treasure-revealed lineage and discussed subjects such as crazy wisdom, mahasiddhas, and compassion as appreciation.
In this episode, Ngakchang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen give a tour of the grounds of Drala Jong, discuss the esoteric geomancy of the site, and reveal the methods used to identify and propitiate the local spirit of the land.
Ngakchang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen detail the methods and practices of the Aro gTér, guide practice sessions in the Dzogchen meditation of sky gazing and other techniques, and tell stories of their lamas such as Kunzang Dorje Rinpoche, Chimé Rigdzin Rinpoche, Dudjom Rinpoche, and more.
I also meet the ordained caretakers of the centre, witness the sangha in their daily rituals of chanting and song, and receive a lesson in their physical movement system of Kum Nye from lineage specialist Sang-gyé A-tsal.

Thank you for taking your time with this one and allowing for the slow and detailed pace of conversation. The powerfully compassionate activities of Rinpoche and Khandro Dechen is showcased beautifully in this video! May they live long, healthy, prosperous lives and may the Aro lineage continue strongly in integrity for many years!

Fabulous! Thank you so very much. This is such a wonderful introduction to the Aro gTér, Dzogchen and the beautiful possibilities of Drala Jong. Of course, it all arises out of the fierce kindness and direct manifestation of Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen. A Ho: Wonderful!

Thank you! I really enjoyed the natural pace and style of this interview. It was a lovely introduction to many aspects of this tradition and its new Buddhist centre. I really enjoyed taking my time with it and watching it over a week or so in small sittings.

Nice to know there's somewhere for mendicant Vajrayana practitioners, a permanent encampment might not be a traditional gar, though perhaps that's appropriate, it would appear that kindness is also 'non-traditional' sometimes, certainly the land seems to be too beginninglessly pure for scruffy sorts 😂 Fame and infamy indeed!

Absolutely, Drala Jong has an extensive area of old woodland which is cherished and which great care is being taken of. th There has been considerable tree planting in other areas of the property focusing on indigenous trees, with much more planting to come. The shooting of this video was some months ago, since then it has become highly likely that the chestnut tree will be kept, everyone loves it very much. Best wishes, Naljorma Tsül'dzin (I help with fundraising for Drala Jong)

Managde does have preliminaries... semdzin, rushen and lojon

Advice on Dzogchen Men-ngag-dé differs according to Lama and lineage. The practices you mention are from Dzogchen Men-ngag-dé apart from Lojong - which is Sutra
@DTTaTa
@DTTaTa 6 ай бұрын
@@doctogden-dt1uv of course I'm talking about the 7th lojong of the vima nyintik, not mahayana lojong. Semdzin, rushen and lojong all come from the 17 tantras of dzogchen upadesha. Teachers might emphasize some practices or others but to say upadesha doesnt have preliminaries is not correct. In fact I dont know any cycle that doesnt include some form of rushen (there might be tho).
@DTTaTa

@@doctogden-dt1uv unless that what he meant is that his particular menangde cycle doesnt include preliminaries. Maybe that was it?

LOL. That guy is not a reincarnation of Do Khyentse, but of at maximum Do Khyentse's horse. Certainly not a terton and not a teacher of authentic dharma/vajrayana/dzogchen. The whole Aro posse is not authentic tantric buddhism but teaches some made up new age teachings vaguely resembling tantric buddhism.
@doctogden-dt1uv

Nothing is said about Ngak’chang Rinpoche being an incarnation of DoKhyentsé Yeshé Dorje. The other comments are merely abusive.
@petrairene
@petrairene 6 ай бұрын
@@doctogden-dt1uv It's what he claims elsewhere. To be a terton you have to be the reincarnation of one of the 25 disciples of Padmasambhava. By claiming to be a terton you claim to be a tulku of one of these 25. There is a reason why absolutely NO Nyingma lineage holder has verified his claim that he is a tulku and a vajraynaa lineage holder. Because his teachings are made up and bogus.
@doctogden-dt1uv
@doctogden-dt1uv 6 ай бұрын
This seems to be the recycling of abusive internet material. Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Dechen are well supported by major Dudjom Lamas - so to write these comments is merely aggressive for no good reason.
@petrairene
@petrairene 6 ай бұрын
@@doctogden-dt1uv There are still renowned lamas working with Ole Nydahl, hell there were lineage lamas that still worked with the pedophile abuser cult leader Robert Spatz. That Ngakchang guy has nothing to transmit except his own made up new age inventions. He seems to be a nice enough person, but that doesn't turn him into someone who can transmit something that can be used to attain liberation.
@kunzangdordze9730
@kunzangdordze9730 5 ай бұрын
@@doctogden-dt1uv no, they are not supported as teachers by Dudjom Lamas, I know this as a practitioner within Dudjom Tersar tradition, having discussed the issue of Ngak’phang (formerly - presently Ngak’chang) and Aro with several senior lamas of the tradition in private. In general the duo is considered as clowns and curiosity, some consider them to be outright fake tertons. Also Doc Togdeng is one of Ngak’chang’s names, so singing your own praises, Mr. Togden? Also the interpretation of certain Tibetan terms by mr. Ngak’chang is hilarious and shows how little he actually knows about dzogchen teachings, especially semde and actual dzogchen ngondros :D
