In this episode I am once again joined by Dr Chencho Dorji, Bhutan’s first psychiatrist and the Professor of Psychiatry at Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences.
Dr Dorji reveals the challenges he faced establishing modern psychiatrist in Bhutan, a culture heavily invested in a supernatural model of mental illness. He recounts stories of patients possessed by ghosts, local avatars of Shiva, reincarnations of Padmasambhava and more.
Dr Dorji explains the role of religion and superstition in stigmatising mental illness, and considers whether shamanistic rituals and other traditional healing methods can co-exist with modern medical practices.
Dr Dorji also warns that mental illness in general, and borderline personality disorder in particular, is on the rise on Bhutan and shares his vision for a greater collaboration between modern medicine, the clergy, shamans, and Sowa Rigpa healers.

There is no contradiction between biochemical imbalance, Trauma and spirit provocation as all take place on different levels and these levels are interconnected. Important is just being able to decern which level to emphasize, with which level to start with. Treatment should be holistic, including all aspects.

Psychopharmaka only treat symptoms, energy balance disturbance stays. Psychpharmaka is good for emergency case but not for chronic conditions. I know people who died from sideeffects or got ill (mostly neurologic disorders like parkinson for example) from psychopharmaka. It needs to be worked on spiritual (chöd ritual) energetic (yoga, acupuncture, homöopathics, frequency therapy), on mind level (cognitive therapy) and body level with functional medicine, orthemolecular medicine)

Unusual perceptual experiences aren't necessarily psychosis diagnosis. At best it becomes highly reductionistic to diagnosis everyone who has culturally bound (yes, that's an ACTUAL term) widely held beliefs as having schizophrenia.

Mexico has the same problem as Bhutan. Many people have seizures because of the parasite that contaminates pork. I personally know of one man who informed that when his family was so poor they ate the pork meat even though they knew it was infected with the parasite, in Mexico they call the parasite a "Ladilla." Also the problem with some butchers that know a pig is infested and they sell the meat anyway.

Such parasite ued to be common in the United States Ameabic infections too. At the World's Fair in the 1930s a big outbreak. Worms tape other kinds Thank God for Diodoquinine .I was treat for Ameabic infection. Emptiness chloride before. From Ipeca a poisonous cactus that the Aztecs knew the Jesuits saved King Louis XIV was dying of Ameabic dysentery and they saved him

Mind health is very much connected to the gut health. Therefore dysbiosis, leaky gut needs to be treated. Also heavy metals can cause mind problems next to many other health conditions. Therefore chelat therapy is also important, as well eridication of parasites. And good diet is important.
