Lixun is selfish, self-centered and unempathetic person who cares only about himself and his dignity. He left her 3 years ago because of his personal revenge and did not even consider her feelings, trust and love. He abandoned her when she trusted him and stood against everyone for him. Then he comes back from jail and expects her to wait for him. He hurts her badly and thinks she lived a happy life without him abroad. Her friend is the only one who stood by her through her suffering, he doesn't even expect her love in return and gives importance to what she thinks. Even when she was in hospital he never tries to separate them. Instead he tells lixun about all the suffering and depression she went through when she was abroad. He just wants her to be happy.

I agree Li Xun is very selfish but that was because he never learned to love. The time he spent with her he was very caring and affectionate. However, since he had plans of revenge he didn’t want to drag her into it so he pushed her away on purpose. I don’t think he expected her to wait for him because if he did then he would not have been so cruel. Now that he is aware of her mental state he has changed his attitude and is making an effort of peace even though he is dying inside believing that she has moved on.

@@Infinitedramas her friend wants her to be happy with him. Anyone with basic common sense, can see that he's in love with her and is jealous of Li Xun. His feelings for her are not pure friendship. I noticed that from episode 1.

You are correct, Li Xun character role, reminds me of Yuan Shanjian, aka stalker, in Love like the Galaxy. Many women were captivated by his looks and not interested in his obnoxious behavior towards Niao Niao, they were calling it love. When such behavior is condoned, it shows the level of one's mentality.

Li xun in the novel is worst than here. At least in the drama i can see his love for her but in the novel he's despicable
